This game is gone. Needs to get players like Turnbull and Stewart on, and at least get some experience for them. McGregor and McGinn have offered nothing in this game, and are already on the beach.

This has been as bad as Kazakhstan years ago.

This is the definition of a 'bury the ball' game.

Changes needed, just to freshen the team up, for Wednesday in Armenia. And time for a few players just to be rested and sent away on holiday. Andy Robertson needs a break at least.

Possible time to try a back four again. The three doesn't have the same effect without Tierney, and the midfield has been absent in two of the last three games.

Well the Scots probably didn't see such a heavy defeat coming their way. But lets not forget that this is a pretty decent Irish team. Over the last 8 or 9 months, they've drawn and matched teams such as Portugal, Belgium and Serbia. In their other match away to a very strong Portuguese side, they were leading 1 nil in Lisbon, until 2 very late goals from the world class Cristiano Ronaldo turned the match around for Portugal.

The Irish fought extremely hard in this match, they were constantly closing down the Scottish players, not allowing the Scots to get a rhythm going. Two quick fire goals for Ireland, the 2nd a lovely assist from Obafemi for the Spurs striker Parrott to head home, gave the Irish wind in their sails. Ireland's 3rd goal from Obafemi, a cracker of a strike, was unstoppable. The Irish kept battling until the final minute and the raucous Irish fans kept cheering their side on all match.

Very little seemed to go right for Scotland and they seemed to be out muscled by the Irish on numerous occasions. However, the Scots have to regroup quickly. They now have to travel to extremely sunny and hot Yerevan to play Armenia. The Scots impressed in their win over Armenia at Hampden Park a few days ago, but playing away to the Armenians is whole different kettle of fish. Scotland will also have to make home advantage count in their upcoming matches against Ukraine and Ireland, if they want to have any chance of topping this group.

Veteran Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov played his last international match for Ukraine in his countries 3-0 win over Armenia in Poland. It was Pyatov's 102nd international appearance for Ukraine and the last time he will play for Ukraine. Pyatov will be pleased that Ukraine cruised to a 3-0 victory and that he didn't concede a goal. He will now make way for younger talented Ukrainian goalkeepers, like Buschan, Lunin, Trubin and Riznyk.

McGinn scores Scotland's 3rd goal!! McGinn, with his back to goal, trapped a cross from the right and then smashed the ball into the corner of the net on the turn. Excellent goal there by McGinn and Scotland are now cruising to victory in Yerevan.

Scotland finally found their level. 10 man Armenia.

The sending off obviously has helped their cause, but they've still played well today. It's never easy playing Armenia away from home and to score 4 goals past them in Yerevan is a very decent result, even if Armenia had a man sent off half-way through the match. Armstrong has done really well, so has McGinn.

Well it finishes Armenia 1-4 Scotland! Scotland cruise to an emphatic away victory, aided in some part to Armenia having a man sent off half way through the game. Scotland however, can be proud of this thrashing and it keeps alive their hopes of still qualifying from the group. Armstrong, McGinn and Adams all scored and impressed, while McGregor gave another strong performance.

Armenia have been very poor for a while, home and away. I'd expect most "Group B" sides to comfortably beat them.

They are usually good at defending and counter attacking, a strategy that works for them very well when they play at home. Their home ground, the heat and their loud supporters help them a lot as well against other European sides. Away from home, they evidently don't play as well. They have some very good attacking players, Adamyan being the one I am most familiar with. So Armenia are a relatively tough side to play when they are at home. But yeah, I mean I'd expect top quality sides to beat them both home and away, even though Armenia tend to be much stronger when they play in Yerevan, as opposed to when they play outside of Armenia.
