I’m crying already. He can save penalties but why take off Ryan!

Same here, I was surprised. Ryan is an excellent goalie, but the manager brought on Redmayne in his place. I thought perhaps some of the Aussies here could tell me more about him. Even if he's a penalty saving specialist this Redmayne fellow, there's huge pressure on him to deliver now.

Commiserations to @Mpache and Paddington Bear.

Well done to Australia, a solid performance from them, they battled hard all match and then held their nerve in the penalty shoot-out. Who was saying Australia aren't going to beat Peru?  France and Denmark will be very difficult opponents for the Aussies at the World Cup, but they'll hope to get the better of the Tunisians at least.

It's quite a few consecutive World Cup finals for Australia now.

Would have seemed strange for them not be there.

Yeah, they qualified for the 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 World Cups. It's now a 5th consecutive World Cup for them. They always battle hard, which is a great trait for a national team to have. Good luck to them in Qatar in December. I think their already quite used to playing in the country haha.

@Michael turns out Redmayne coming on wasn't a bad choice ;)

Congrats to the Aussie contingent on here! Fantastic achievement!

It really is a relief.

We aren't good, this is a fact, we have a small talent pool from a small population. Our professional league isn't even twenty years old, and our approach to the sport hasn't evolved in just as long, so just getting to the World Cup is an achievement and such a sense of relief.

Yep, it was clear the manager knew what he was doing with such a bold move. I'd never seen him play before, but as I said, Arnold's choice to bring him on has been fully vindicated.

Walkabout is probably going to be packed to the rafters tonight. 😀

Have you not heard of the Walkabout Australian pubs that are located all around the world? There are loads of them in England, certainly in the major cities.😀

Never heard of them. The only Walkabout I know is the right of passage some young Indigenous men do.

The former legendary and also most disgusting pub in Phnom Penh which was frequented by junkies, geriatric sexpats, underaged prostitutes and worn out hookers on ice.

But I'm sure that's not what @Michael meant
