LFCMike 2,847
From the Calvin Ramsay article in the other thread Liverpool had shown interest in Aurelien Tchouaméni earlier this year, but were told that the France midfielder favoured a move to Real Madrid from Monaco. Klopp is an admirer of England’s Jude Bellingham, who recently told The Times he would remain at Borussia Dortmund next season. Bellingham, 18, will, clearly, continue to be followed, with Liverpool confident that they have enough depth in midfield in the meantime. Their strategy is not to sign stop-gaps — rather, they are prepared to wait for the right player and disregard any criticism that comes their way. I’m not convinced he’s that type of player. Who knows. But the move to Dortmund at that type was all about football and development. Let’s see. I could see him at Liverpool definitely. United should be going all out for him too and chelsea, although think they’re set on rice

Analysis below: Salary of Kevin De Bruyne + Haaland + Grealish = £1,075,000/week That is more than the COMBINED salary of: Salah + Van Dijk + Trent + Nunez + Robertson + Diaz +Alisson + Jota = £1,065,000/week If Foden today demands more salary than Salah (220k/week), he will get it. But if Mane wants more salary than Sterling (300k/week), he has to be sold to make budget for Nunez, who will earn half the salary of John Stones (250k/week). If 100 million Grealish (300k/week) fails, he sits on the bench and Guardiola bids £60 Million for Kalvin Phillips. If Nunez/Van Dijk/Alisson move fails, it's a catastrophic disaster for Klopp. That's the level of risk and challenge that Klopp overcomes every summer and keeps this league interesting till the last minute of last day. Without Klopp, PL turns into a Farmers' league and ends by February or March. Happy Birthday Klopp, Genius. To be honest we aren't an attractive club for top/elite players. We win trophies sure, but our reputation is playing dour football, having a small stadium with an awful home support/atmosphere, misusing our players (particularly our attackers) , and overall just being a club with zero stability. An exciting talent will want to join something established and given all that Roman provided us, we were never that. Hence why we always over pay for players. The optimism behind all of this was this was the best time for Roman to leave vs the season where we finished outside of the Top 4. Club needs restructuring to adapt. I can understand players not wanting to leave Italy or Spain as it appears to be the La Dolce Vita which is why I think the odds against us getting top talent are less, though arguably this argument applies to all of the UK clubs. So we should aim for those that are hungry for whom success is more important than surroundings. For success the manager and having good team mates would then suggest success is more likely and then it's the money. Though depending on the player money versus good manager is more a balance. Think it got harder under Roman as clubs did not want to sell so we often ended up with 3rd choice. Be interesting to see if this changes.
