A mention also for the young Athletic Bilbao keeper, Kepa.  He made his debut today although only had to make one save right at the end.  He's just been interviewed and he declined to say that he's not leaving Athletic next summer for Juve to replace Buffon.

RUSSIA 3-3 SPAIN

Spain were on course to rip Russia apart and then decided to go to sleep and it ended in a 3-3 draw.  Not too much can be taken from this game with the changes and experiments made although there were various positive things before the team fell asleep.  But you can also learn a lot of things from thinking things are done...  Spain were 0-2 up, then it went back to 2-2 and then 2-3 to Spain and finally 3-3 where Russia ended up without a keeper at the end after a nasty clashing injury.  Both sides had made all their substitutions and Spain told the ref that they didn't mind Russia bringing on an extra one to cover the terrible facial injury their first team keeper had suffered.  The referee declined to permit this and then both teams decided they wouldn't play the final 3 minutes of injury time and the ref blew for the final whistle.

Anyway...  Lopetegui remains undefeated as Spain head coach and it's now waiting for the summer to arrive before we see them all get together again and also waiting to see who gets selected to go because there's all sorts of permutations as to who can make the final squad.

Scorers;

RUSSIA:

  • Fedor Smolov (2)
  • Miranchuk

SPAIN:

  • Jordi Alba
  • Sergio Ramos (2)

What a ridiculous statement. Pique has said he is Spanish and anti-seperatist.

He also said to Arbeloa before the copa  del Rey final in 2011,  'now we won the league, we are going to win your kings cup too'

Eres Grande Capitan!!!No como el puto traidor Pique

Gerard Piqué was captain against Russia, chosen unanimously by all the squad.

By the way mate...  Did you know that both Piqué and Ramos have several businesses they run together?

Don't fall for the hype! B|

Well Piqué  he has created various companies and two of them he has invited Sergio Ramos and has given the Real captain 50% stake in both of them.

Is Marco Asensio going to play much for Spain or have a bright future?  or would he of been better to of played for the Netherlands, he was caught in 2 minds when Van Nistelrooy spoke with him but was put off when he sat down and spoke with Danny Blind who was the coach at the time, he could of played as his mum is Dutch.

He’s been playing mate. Played against Argentina and played against Italy and France (all victories). I would say he’ll be selected for the World Cup too.

He isnt getting many chances at Real, so wasn't sure if he was really doing that well.

He’s back playing for Real again. Infact I think he’s played more games than Isco. Both players are upset with Zidane to be honest because he has his favourites like Benzema.

Today were the first press conferences for the Spain national side under the wing of the new coach Luis Enrique. Isco of Real Madrid was the one selected by the technical team to answer the press and he done a great impression of Luis Enrique in getting pissed off at searching questions.

The tweet was published by a French journalist present after the question was asked by a Spanish journalist working for ‘El País’.

Diego Torres (journalist) asked;

”Do you cause more harm to rivals when you recieve the ball in-between lines or by coming back to help in the defending?”

Isco took this the wrong way by interpreting that the journalist was calling him lazy and responded with this very Luis Enrique superstitious answer;

”I’m not even going to answer you. Say what I say, you’re going to write what you want. I’m gonna let you continue in your typical line of journalism in the hope you disrupt the national team the least amount possible. We’re the ones playing the game on the field and we don’t need people that are hitting us from all angles most of the time.”

Obviously Isco hasn’t been involved in Spain’s major domination for almost 8 years of football and has been contaminated with the Luis Enrique ‘don’t trust anybody’ psychosis.

and his personal grudge with Alba should be the main headline right now in Spain.

Thumbs up just for this. I don't know about grudges but Alba is easily one of the best full backs in the world and would be key to any team.

He is indeed being kept out because of the grudge Luis Enrique had with Jordi Alba at Barça.

But because Luis Enrique’s team has been performing marvellously and recaptured the essence of what it’s all about even after this defeat to England which has been seen as an error in a game that should’ve been won comfortably, then he isn’t really being questioned too much and only from the Barcelona based press obviously.

Let’s see how it all develops though because the press have a very bad relationship with Luis Enrique and they’re waiting like wolves for the first but of something substantial to bite on so as to dig into him hard... That England game was nowhere near enough.

Jordi Alba returns to the Spain national team!

Luis Enrique has finally backed down with this personal issues with the Barça left-back who has been in the form of his life and is possibly the best fullback in European football right now.

A good piece of news that because Alba has deserved to be in there right from the outset.
