Dave
Maybe Stoke City will no longer be the place where good strikers go to die.
Lucas
I mean you'd instantly think Sean Dyche, particularly as he's free. But that's assuming Dyche fancies the Championship. In fairness to him, he has probably earned anough credit to get a Premier League job at a struggler but there's no guarantee if/when that happens. They had to change it though. Stoke have not been shy in investing into the squad since they went down and O'Neill has only managed 15th, 14th and 14th finishes respectively. The first one can be excused as he took over when they were bottom in November but the latter two isn't good enough.

A Sunderland fan in the comments said that he was on a rolling deal with Sunderland whereas he'd get a locked in 3-4 years at Stoke. Hard to argue with that. Subscriber Pyfish+ Posted August 26, 2022 Subscriber Share Posted August 26, 2022 Absolutely! A rolling contract or a stable deal. Makes a lot of sense to go to Stoke as much as it'll disappoint Sunderland fans to have to find yet another manager.
OrangeKhrush
Sunderland Message Board is comical. They have a thread "Neil becoming a sunderland legend". Yip he is an absolute legend.
Subscriber JoshBRFC+ Posted August 27, 2022 Subscriber Share Posted August 27, 2022 Considering the promotion and how they’re doing so far why wouldn’t Sunderland offer him a longer team deal? Surprising change.
Dave
Yeah big own from Sunderland not to tie him down longer. One of the good things about being a Manager is the pay off you get for any rash sacking.

Imo the only Prem team that goes near Dyche is Forest, everyone else has a brand of football that is more progressive or they simply know it wouldn't make sense to the fanbase

Dave
Feels like a bit of an own goal from Sunderland keeping him on a one year rolling contract.
