Very promising. Comfortable on the ball, reads the game very well and likes to play and run forward with it. You can tell a defender is good when they can sense the danger before it happens, and at least react quick enough if someone else fails. That challenge to get in front of Lukaku right in front of goal, facing his own goal, was superb.
Waylander
Belgium should have won it in the 2nd half you cannot expect your striker to miss those kind of chances. Croatia looked rather ordinary today perhaps happy knowing they just needed a point.

6666
Don't know if it's too harsh to have a go at Lukaku and his first touch but he could've easily won this for Belgium.

I don't think it's harsh at all. It'd be harsh to blame him for Belgium's exit out of the World Cup. But he can be blamed for not being able to score to beat Croatia today. Waylander
Will De Bruyne blame it on the old players again after all Lukaku is 29 On a more serious note following his bad time at CFC and now with Belgium his career at top level might take a dive. Subscriber Dan+ Posted December 1, 2022 Subscriber Share Posted December 1, 2022 Just got to hope that doesn't kill the morale of our players but I doubt it, Faes will have the bit between his teeth, absolutely criminal how he never saw a minute of that tournament and he's got a great attitude. There are some occasions where I feel genuinely quite sympathetic and that's one of them for Lukaku. That's going to haunt him forever. It was Karius-esque. I think the only solace he could possibly have is they were a shambles and stunk the place out regardless of what he did. Even if they went through tonight they didn't have a prayer of winning it. Lucas
I think the most ironic thing of this tournament is Kevin De Bruyne saying the Belgium team are too old and yet Luka Modric whose about 57, completely schooled the game.
Cicero
Belgium’s decline happened the moment Hazard declined. As good as KDB is, peak Hazard genuinely carried his teams.
Machado
It's not that they're old, it's how badly most of that team aged.

Martinez should never have handled this team leading up to this WC imo. I don't know if it would have made a difference but we'll never know now.
