Kyle Walker Completes £50m Move To Manchester City

Manchester City are close to completing the signing of Tottenham and England right-back Kyle Walker.

The 27-year-old is expected to have a medical and complete the transfer on Friday after the clubs agreed a deal on Wednesday worth £50m plus add-ons.

Walker, who joined Tottenham from Sheffield United in 2009, will not join up with Spurs for the start of their pre-season training on Friday.

Instead, he will travel with City on Monday to start their tour of the USA.

City boss Pep Guardiola released three full-backs at the end of last season, including both right-sided players - Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna.

He missed out on the signing of free agent Dani Alves, with the Brazilian joining Paris St-Germain on Wednesday.

Walker made 183 Premier League appearances for Spurs and he has won 27 England caps.

The defender, selected in the 2016-17 Premier League team of the year, will become City's third signing of the summer, after the arrivals of midfielder Bernardo Silva and goalkeeper Ederson Moraes.

The amounts of money changing hands in football recently surprises me. I remember when Chelsea paid £50m for Fernando Torres and it being recorded as ludicrous by some. Now we're seeing the likes of Swansea demanding these figures for players worth half of that if less. Kyle Walker is definetely one of the best English defenders around right now but £50m for him is insane. For some time I'd assumed it was down to the Chinese offering ludicrous sums and our teams trying to compete with them but now the threat has been dampened with their 100% transfer tax there's no point. Teams like Newcastle with stingy owners aren't going nowhere if this continues. It's greed.

Don't think Man City even care about value for money, crazy price for any right back let alone Kyle Walker.

As for Tottenham, their squad overall was already quite weak and it just got weaker but you'd think they'd spend this money in a more clever way than they did the Bale money.

It could be a tactic to fuck the market up to price most teams out of other transfers  ...united must have the same idea, 75million for Lukaku xD  ..if that's the new 35million  then we are getting Walker for 15m in old value

@HoneyNUFC the fee's 45million so the title of this thread is fake news :22_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Kyle Walker will undergo his Manchester City medical on Friday as Pep Guardiola's side close in on the signing of Tottenham's England international.

Press Association Sport understands City will pay £45million up front for the 27-year-old right-back, with further adds on that could take the eventual price up to a maximum of £50million.

Walker will therefore not become the outright most expensive defender ever, an honour that currently belongs to David Luiz following his £50million transfer from Chelsea to Paris St Germain in 2014.

After almost sealing a deal for Walker, they have decided to enquire again about Rose.

Tottenham have flat out refused to entertain the thought of Rose leaving this summer, and are not willing to sell the left-back at any price, meaning City doing a double-deal for both of Mauricio Pochettino’s full-backs is off the cards.

The price is actually, £45 million up front, £5 million in 12 months and another £5 million potential add ins. Guaranteed £50 million potentially rising to £55 million.

On my phone so cba to type out a long post, but it seems he wasn't in Poch's plans so cashing in on at his peak value. Like Kyle a lot but think he may struggle without Toby and Wanyama picking up the pieces and without a defensive genius of a coach

At our end they are saying 45 with the potential of of it rising to 50million max   ...which ever way, it's crazy money, can you not just send Trip back home instead :D

Crazy price but Manchester City have been crying out for a Right Back and Kyle Walker, being the best English RB and probably one of the RB's that best suits Guardiola's style, will definitely improve their team and do well.
