Viktor Tsyhankov transfers to Girona.

Recommended Posts

Ukrainian international winger Viktor Tsyhankov has just been bought by Spanish La Liga club Girona. Girona paid a cut price 5 million euros to Dynamo Kyiv for Tsyhankov, but Dynamo Kyiv will get 50% of any future transfer money should Girona decide to sell Tsyhankov to another club in the future. Tsyhankov is one of the most talented Ukrainian players around and joining Girona to play in a top league like the Spanish La Liga can only improve his game. I have little doubt that Tsyhankov will be a real success at Girona and I am sure that other big clubs will want to sign him from Girona in a couple of years time.

Bargain. Pathway to Man City perhaps given the link between the 2 clubs.

Yes, it is a real bargain signing. But just compare Tsyhankov to Mudryk. Both are really wingers, but Tsyhankov has been an established star in the Ukrainian league for much longer. He has only just turned 25, but has already gained 42 international appearances for Ukraine, scoring 7 goals(he made his international debut aged 18). Tsyhankov is widely regarded as one of the best players in Ukraine and he won the Ukrainian player of the year award a few years ago. While I am not saying that he is quite on the level that Mudryk is probably going to be at, Tsyhankov is still a real quality player. But despite this, Girona manage to buy Tsyhankov for a transfer fee of 5 million, while Chelsea have had to agree to a 100 million transfer fee for Mudryk.

It's true that Girona paid only 5 million for Tsyhankov because his contract at Dynamo Kyiv was going to expire this summer, but the Spanish club have nonetheless signed themselves a real bargain. I am sure Tsyhankov will do really well at Girona, as not only is he a really skilled winger, he is also a set-piece specialist.
