Dyche, as expected, has galvanised Everton. There's an energy, an urgency amongst the players and that feeds into the crowd, and then vice versa.

Pickford not been tested at all and Arsenal struggling.

Everton have had the better chances. Even if Everton don't win this, you can see how much belief Dyche gives the players and that will probably help get them over the line in the more important games against teams around them in the league.

  • The title was changed to Everton 1-0 Arsenal - Saturday 4th February, 2023

Everton done all the basics right today off the ball.

They ran, they closed down space, pressured Arsenal on the ball, basically got in the Arsenal's face and they never dealt with it. Martinelli, Odegaard and Saka were pocketed easily.

And any opportunity they had, they whipped balls in early into the box and at set pieces, looked a threat.

I actually thought they played decent on the ball too.

Been banging the Dyche drum for about 2/3 years on here and whilst it's only one game, it's absolutely crystal clear to see him and Everton are made for eachother. He will play them to their strengths and get them very, very hard to beat.

No one is going to want to go there now.

Fuck sake...

Well done Sean Dyche and Everton. On paper it looked like there was a host of players at that club who he could get playing for the badge and today we saw that in person.

The big thing for them is allowing Dyche 18 months to shape the squad and for Moshiri to stay behind the scenes. If he could focus on getting the sponsor deals and growing the club commercially instead of affecting on field decisions then the club could come out this dark period healthy.

Dyche got his game plan spot on, stopping us from playing with that midfield 3 and the hard working wingers, the players executed his game plan very well and worked very hard, fair play to them. Conceding the first goal was fatal for us  I'd like to see a replay of the action that led to the corner they scored from though, I could've sworn it came off Iwobi last.

It's a wake up call for us. We have to bounce back with a win next weekend and we have to improve on breaking down defensive teams, because Everton have just given the rest of the league the blueprint on how to beat us.
