Subscriber RandoEFC+ 7,644 Posted April 30, 2023 Author Subscriber Share Posted April 30, 2023 Results - Azerbaijan Grand Prix Unfortunately no points this week for @Eco, @The Palace Fan and @DeadLinesman who didn't predict before the early deadline on Friday. Keep an eye out for this in future and I'll try to do my bit by making sure I post predictions on the Monday of race week rather than midweek! Unfortunately we had no choice but to proceed and score these guys a 0 for this weekend. Of those that predicted, nobody managed to score any points for Charles Leclerc's pole position on Friday, with everyone predicting another Max Verstappen triumph, barring @JoshBRFC who went for Lewis Hamilton. There were no points directly up for grabs on Saturday, but several people managed to pick a driver who would finish higher in the Saturday Sprint than Sunday's Grand Prix. @RandoEFC and @Stan went for Nico Hulkenberg with @Tommy choosing his Haas team-mate Kevin Magnussen. Pierre Gasly brought home the points for @MUFC and @Coma thanks to a nightmare Sunday for the Frenchman. @nudge was just about successful with Bottas, who managed to benefit from a few DNFs on Sunday and @JoshBRFC was rewarded with 5 points by Russell's strong showing on Saturday. There was no luck for @Whiskey after a poor sprint result and points-scoring Sunday for Lando Norris, while Esteban Ocon's last-lap one-stopper yielded a higher Sunday finish compared to the Sprint, meaning @OrangeKhrush was also out of luck with the Bonus Question. The podium results were less predictable than usual with most people backing a Red Bull 1-2 but with Verstappen in front of Perez. Nobody bagged 5 points either for a Perez win or Verstappen in 2nd, but most people picked up 4 points here for having the Red Bulls in other positions on the podium. The big points here went to @RandoEFC, @MUFC and @Tommy who bagged 5 points apiece for predicting Charles Leclerc's first podium finish of the season in 3rd. Finally, random driver Lance Stroll cost @RandoEFC, @MUFC and @Coma big time when his mistake at Turn 16 cost him a position to Lewis Hamilton and relegated him to a 7th-placed finish. @Stan and @Tommy benefited with another 5 points each here, while @OrangeKhrush could also count himself unlucky to miss out on the points by one position. @Tommy's combination of Leclerc in 3rd, Stroll in 7th and success in the Bonus Question see him top this week's scoring with 19 points. Here's what it does for the standings: Half of the field find themselves sitting in the 50s now, with @Tommy and @RandoEFC catapulting themselves from relative mid-table obscurity to the top two positions in the Drivers' Championship. Poor weeks for previous high-flyers @Whiskey and @OrangeKhrush see them lose positions while @DeadLinesman's no score sees the defending champion slip into the bottom half of the standings, but still very much in touch with the top positions in what has been a close season so far. In the Constructors' standings, at least no teams end up pointless in a week with a few competitors going AWOL, but Alpine and Red Bull are cut adrift somewhat with single-figure scores. Aston Martin catapult themselves from 5th to 1st with @Tommy and @MUFC the only pairing to both bring home double-figured hauls.
