Dave
Sacking him just as the January window begins. What a process. Obviously it has been really bad (how much better it actually would have been with Eustace is another matter entirely). But bringing in a manager who’s going to play a completely different style that requires multiple new players (which you knew at the time) and then sacking said manager right before he has the opportunity to get said players is just spectacular. Subscriber Dan+ Posted January 2 Subscriber Share Posted January 2 That must be one of the worst appointments ever made. Total disaster and self-inflicted decline yet it's not the first time for that club. But at least they have tried to rectify it and owned it. If they end up getting Cooper out of this then I would say they upgraded on Eustace. The fact Cooper is linked is quite encouraging for them. If he went there you would have to assume he had assurances of a pretty generous backing.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted January 2 Subscriber Share Posted January 2 The Lampard/Gerrard/Rooney trifecta really needs to be the end of clubs looking at someone's playing record more than their managerial record to assess their suitability for management. It seems, if anything, that these elite players struggle more, not less, to get the best out of non-elite players who actually have to think tactically about performing well and not just rely on exceptional talent. Danny
So they essentially sacked Eustace for Mowbray....which makes you think, what was the point?
Dave
Can’t wait for Birmingham to get on the fringes of the play offs in 2025 and decide they need an upgrade. That’s the Tony Mowbray guarantee.
