Reluctant Striker
Very sad. Another of the '66 side leaves us. Not sure how many others remain, other than Geoff Hurst. The stories of the Busby Babes, the disaster, how by all accounts Duncan Edwards was the Jude Bellingham of his day, the Bobby Charlton & George Best Man United side, were all still frequently told back in the 90's. Administrator Stan Posted October 22, 2023 Administrator Share Posted October 22, 2023 Some imbecile Man City fans chanting about Bobby Charlton yesterday evening. Disgusting and hopefully the club ban them. Hopefully the tributes next week at the Manchester Derby go smoothly.
Michael
Very, very sad, I've only just seen this news as I've been very busy over the last two days. Another true legend passes away. When I was a kid, Bobby Charlton was generally acknowledged as England's best ever player. Even though he retired from playing football way before I was born, everyone talked about how great he was as a footballer for England and for Manchester United. I used to watch highlights of his performances on the old videos, especially his performances at the 1966 World Cup. Bobby Charlton was a true icon of a footballer and he was a real gentleman off the field. He was a true great of the game and he will never be forgotten. RIP Sir Bobby Charlton
