Another positive is Moreno. Apart from the mis-timed challenge he's been excellent. In fact he has been  pretty much all season so far. Much improved, keep it up.

Yeah if he keeps this up it would be great. Major improvement from everything else we've seen from him in a red shirt. A bit shit for Roberston, who had a great debut, but good for us.

I've said all along that if Moreno had an ounce of defensive mind set then he'd be great.

On Mane: He is sooo fucking good. Another absolute gem we've picked out.

About the game: We need another goal sharpish. Get the game killed off.

What a cunt that Sevilla manager was with throwing that ball away. Can managers get the equivalent of a "bookable offence" where if they do it again they get sent out? Because it seemed a bit harsh for him to get a "straight red" even if he was being retarded.

Disappointing that because in the end it could really have gone all wrong as Sevilla were on the up. As for their manager, I don't get what he was thinking but it was very petty. Sad to also see Joe Gomez get the red because he was my pick for the better of our defensive line tonight.

I think managers should just get one verbal warning for doing something stupid, then if they do it again they're off. What he was doing was fucking retarded, I'd expect petulance like that from a young player or a knobhead like Joey Barton. Not from a manager of a CL side. Was pretty amusing seeing him go from a smug face as he threw the ball away the second time to looking like he was about to cry.

Very poor result from us though. No excuses for any of our players, we created so many chances and didn't put enough of them away. And our defending is simply fucking abysmal, so it doesn't matter if we're dominant for most of a match... we'll always be at risk of draws/losses from poor lapses of judgment.

When Klopp said that the defending issue was largely about the whole team and the system, he was right.

But there's also always going to be an element of individual quality. You can have a brilliant collective defensive organisation, and an error-prone CB like Lovren can still cost you a goal.

To be fair Klopps game manegment is shit. He only knows how to attack. It's his biggest flaw.

You're right. We need a leader back in defense and while I quite like Matip its his partner that goes amiss many a time. I'd put money on the fact that if Sakho was back there tonight we'd have never let the first goal in.

Yeah by no means am I trying to shift the blame from Klopp, quite the opposite. When he said that he was trying to say that they didn't need to sign a CB, they just needed to improve collectively.

Liverpools situation is that they're still quite shaky as a whole team, and on top of that they've got a propensity for gifting goals out of fairly innocuous situations through individual errors.

It's hard to get away with even one of those 2 things.

Edit: and until January the best-case scenario is that the team as a whole wisens up, in which case they'll still need to worry about conceding freak goals.

Actually tonight the two goals show both sides of Liverpool's problem.

The first one is a situation where they've got defenders in the right positions but Lovren makes an error dealing with a fairly simple ball and the opposition gets a goal for free.

The second one isn't so much about individual errors - Correa pulls of a brilliant bit of skill and the finish is the same - but Sevilla work the ball into the middle so quickly because Liverpool are too slow collectively to react to a quick throw.

We had plenty of opportunities at the top end of the pitch to put this one out of sight, but we either couldn't finish or couldn't get the final ball right, and our ineptitude at the back ultimately cost us. Same story as it was against City before John Moss decided to finish it early. This was the perfect chance to move on from that mauling by beating a good side, but instead we repeated the mistakes.

There's no miracle cure to our defensive issues, not even VVD, but you need a defensive leader on the pitch or any time spent perfecting a defensive system goes to waste when the likes of Lovren and Moreno have one of their characteristic brain farts. It's painfully obvious that we don't have one of those

If we're only 1 goal up you can guarantee our defence will shit the bed and gift the opposition an equaliser at some point.

Its sickening that we can't even drop Lovren because every other option we have is even worse.

Or just drop Lovren and bring in Virgil Va...oh.
