Ian Wright: Sean Dyche Should Be Next Arsenal Manager

Burnley manager Sean Dyche is capable of replacing Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, says former Gunners striker Ian Wright.

Dyche's side beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday to move up to sixth in the Premier League table.

But Wright thinks Arsenal and other top clubs will not take a chance on the 46-year-old, and predicts Dyche will be "pushed" into taking the England job.

"I believe he is somebody that needs to go, at some stage, to the next level," he told BBC Radio 5 live.

That would be a "club who can play in Europe on a regular basis", added Wright, who also suggested Everton would be a good stepping stone for Dyche, who has twice won promotion to the top flight with the Clarets.

The former England international, 53, has been vocal in his criticism of Wenger, saying the club was in "crisis from top to bottom" after their 4-0 defeat by Liverpool in August.

Asked by Monday Night Club host Mark Chapman if he would take Dyche as a replacement for the Frenchman, Wright said: "Yeah. The fact is would they give Sean Dyche that job?

"In respect to how his team sets up when they're defending, he's obviously got acumen - but will he get a job like that? I don't think he will."

Surely there is a level before Arsenal he should be stepping up to. A mid table club with money and better players than half of the league, then see how he does.

next Everton boss when Koeman goes.

I think Everton will need to go with someone like Pardew, Allardyce or Harry Redknapp for a couple of years as they are relegation fodder and need dragging out of it before they can make the step up to risking it with Sean Dyche :ph34r::ph34r:

Ian Wright is all over the place with his comments in recent times.  One moment he says one thing and then depending on what happens results wise he'll say another which although not generally contradictory, the content doesn't make sense as he never maintains the same line of argument.

As for Sean Dyche...  Many feel he should be given a chance at the next level and a club like Everton would probably be perfect for him if Koeman were to leave for whatever reason, under whatever circumstance of occurrences.  Talking about a possible future Arsenal head coach is futile and I'm not going off on a tangent here with the old joke about Wenger staying forever or the club being too scared to replace him.  No, Wenger and Arsenal FC are special cases and there is a two year contract to be served which unless things go horribly wrong, and I mean very very wrong, it will be completed.  There's no point in hypothesising about any particular individual to take over the coaching reigns at Arsenal right now because it's ridiculous to even think so.

You can't call for the sack for Wenger and at the same time call for Dyche. Just hasn't proven himself anywhere near that level. His next step if he does well at Burnley needs to be someone like Everton or even Southampton. Not a relegation battler, but behind the "top 6" as well.

Who would the step inbetween be, under current circumstances?

Southampton, a club who have got into the habit of sacking their managers annually? Newcastle, where despite being at a club with greater resources and more supporters than Burnley, he'll still be allowed to spend a similar amount to Burnley? West Ham, where his style of Football won't match the mythical 'West Ham Way'? Apart from that, who's left?

Fucking hell how Everton's season has crashed!

3 months ago they were being lorded as having a fantastic manager, having the best transfer window, that they were gonna break the top 4, maybe win the Europa League, and now..............

People are saying they should hire Sean fucking Dyche xD

Modern day football for you. Wasn't that long ago people were doubting Sean Dyches credentials as a manager.

I think he should go to a team like west ham or Newcastle' Leicester first. When managers make such a big step up it can go very wrong. Look at moyes and hodson.

I wouldn't be surprised if Burnley got relegated. Though relegation can be a lot more about when you play certain teams than people give credit to. Shithouse teams stay up by a couple of results every year when it wouldn't be unfair if they did go down.

Burnley stayed up last year solely on home form but have looked extremely beatable at home so far against bottom half opposition.

A 0-0 draw with Huddersfield where they managed 4 shots all game. A 1-0 win over Palace where they managed 4 shots all game and Palace absolutely dominated, missing open goals and sitters. A 1-0 defeat at home to West Brom, Tony Pulis one of the more dire away team managers to stay in consistent employment at this level. They are high in the table from beating 9 men Chelsea and Everton, they won't be beating the top teams every outing, the games against the lesser sides are the bread and butter of survival.

If those performances listed are worthy of the Arsenal job then Ian Wright has been getting his spectacles from Poundland.
