Arturo Vidal Retires From International Football

why?

as we've both said, different players have different motivations or priorities in life. It's clear you care not for his personal reasons and just focussing on what he's said in the past and using that to fuel your clear vendetta for him. It's not about who has more of a right to retire or not. It's what the player feels is right and if he wants to retire now after a qualifying campaign and thinks he can't take the nation any further, then so be it.

So I'm assuming Medel and Pizarro don't have other priorities and only Vidal? Fuck me.

I do care for personal reasons but after speaking so much shite, its appropriate to assume he's a sore loser, and given on past history he always has been. It also makes me think he's not a determined player.

"vendetta" yeah because I dislike him because I feel like it.

where did I say they don't have other priorities? I said 'different'. Read :)

Not every football player is the same or must retire in their late 30s be it domestic or international.

What are his personal priorities then? Partying in casino's instead of helping his nations golden generation getting far in a tournament... if he wants to be like that then so be it, but that to me yells little determination. Especially after how arrogant he sounded since Chile won the 2015 Copa America.

He could be back it wouldn't shock me. Didn't half of Argentina "retire" after losing the last copa america?

Yep and Messi is a "sore loser" for retiring after losing 3 finals but Vidal is retiring with honour. Jesus wept.

I thought journalists where supposed to put personal bias aside. We get it you dont like Vidal, now put that aside and evaluate his decision to retire; given his stated personal reasons, his age, the way he plays (mileage on his body), the type of games and teams hes played in and for in the last handful of years (ie competing for CL and league titles and cups) year in year out. Now tell me how he hasnt earned the right to retire.

Most journalists are biased in people's views because of refusal to listen to reason, like you right now. Unfortunately, you and Stan are probably the only 2 people in the world that actually believe this. He retired like a twat. Bravo wont retire like one, see the difference.

which is exactly what you're doing, so quite glad I'm not a journalist xD. Your refusal to listen sets you up perfectly for a world in that industry.

Some posts are ridiculous. xD

So now we have to judge people when they decide to retire for whatever reason they desire to retire for.  It's his choice, he's the captain of his own destiny and to be honest, how old would he be by the next World Cup?  A player based on high energy levels!  He's had a marvellous career at international level.

He is allowed to retire for fucks sake. If anything it allows someone someone else to step up and fill his position, it takes a lot of guts to call it quits sometimes.  What if he isn't up to par by the next WC? All he is done is sopp up four years of experience another player could have.

Between this and Robben retiring from the Dutch squad, international football is really losing some serious ugly points.

You have a really naive view of whorenalism.

I prefer to think of being idealistic but either way thats probably true and far too much to ask from a journalist apparently.

nah won't leave it there, thanks :).

We are informed of the situation; we're just happy to accept there may be other factors in his choice of retirement other than 'he's a twat'.

Which is exactly the opposite of what he's doing im afraid. It's 100% fair to assume he's a twat after he retired due to some absurdly poor decisions that got Chile eliminated. That's not retiring with honor. If he wants to retire, let him but it's not going to go down well here.

Sad to hear he's retiring because he probably had another two years or more in him for the national side but then again its really his choice and if he thinks its time then so be it. I'd imagine you want a player who wants to play for you than a player who is just taking up space on the team and doesn't really have his heart in it. Its also possible he'll do a U-turn like someone else did and we'll see him in national colours again.

You're not the damned moral arbiter. That sort of talking is damned annoying.

I think this is the phrase or sentence I've been needing in my life when speaking to him xDxD

Are we going for a record for the longest pointless argument yet on this forum? xD Whether he retires or not who cares about his motivations really? It's his career and his decision. Paul Scholes retired early from England duty, did him wonders for prolonging his club career and he hardly missed much on the international scene.
