We're back for quiz number 18, I'm hoping to get rounds 19 and 20 up within the week so we can wrap up the competition. This one goes without a theme, and the ten questions are an assortment of different topics.

1) Rafael Benitez is the only manager in history to have won the Europa League, Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup. Which club was he managing when he won the FIFA Club World Cup?

Answer: B – Inter Milan. Benitez is the only manager to have been a winner and a loser in the FIFA Club World Cup final. In 2005, Liverpool were runners up after Rafa guided them to the Champions League title, and in 2012, Benitez was manager when Chelsea lost to Corinthians in the final. It was 2010 with Internazionale where the Spaniard tasted success. 47% answered correctly.

 

2) Barcelona are the most successful club in the history of the FIFA World Cup. How many times have they won the competition?

Answer: B – 3. The Catalan club have lifted three of the thirteen iterations of the Club World Cup, in 2009, 2011 and 2015. 53% answered correctly.

 

3) Which Barcelona manager gave Lionel Messi his debut for the club?

Answer: A – Frank Rijkaard. Reportedly at the request of senior players, Rijkaard promoted Messi to the first team, where the Argentine made his debut at 17 years, 3 months and 22 days old, coming on as an 82nd minute substitute against Espanyol. 80% answered correctly.

Answer: A – Juventus. Goals from Dani Alves and Bonucci earned Juventus a 2-0 win in the final against Lazio at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico. This success saw Juve retain the Coppa Italia for a third year and marked their eleventh success in the competition. 60% answered correctly.
