Charlton Athletic were initially pushing hard to move in to the Olympic Stadium. Thank God Curbishley walked and they dropped. I couldn't imagine it going to a more irritating fan base.

Don’t remember that at all.

Was always West Ham, Barry Hearn using it as a ploy to get the Hockey Stadium/a payout from the LLDC and Tottenham using it as a smokescreen to get their borough council to buy into the stadium redevelopment.

It was when Richard Murray was in charge around 2006 time. When they were a stable Premier League with ambition. Relegation wiped them from the conversation.

I think the problem with West Ham is the new stadium. It simply isn't a football stadium and it demotivates fans and players. The lack of fans near the players, the bowl shape, running track, it just doesn't feel like home. This is the home of Team GB on super saturday in 2012 not a mid-table London football team from the east end supported by Alf Garnett. West Ham's problems have escalated since the move and they are now on the brink of falling to the Championship which if the season hadn't been abandoned, they'd be odds on favourites to fall.

Man City's hosted the highly succesfull Commenwealth Games in 2002 but the difference was, the organising commitee gave City free rein after the games to do what we wanted. We got rid of the running tract and turned it into a football stadium. It's basically a different stadium than the one used in the games. West Ham should have demanded full control of the stadium, they should have got rid of the running track and diminishined the stands so it had a capacity of around 40k. This would be an improvement on Upton Park but would still have the same atmossphere and wouldn't affect West Ham performances. The stadium is really a white elephant, which is a shame as the Olympics was awesome and a very proud momemt for British Sport. It's a shame it will look so forlorn and sad when West Ham are sat in the Championship in that cavenous stadium miles from the pitch watching Jon Parking try to head constant long balls. I really wish West Ham well, they are a big name in football and hope they could get out of this relapse and go back to challenging for the top 6 like they did when Paulo Di Canio was playing for them. As for Di Canio? Anyone remember when he picked the ball up against Everton when he could have put it into an enmpty net as the Everton GK was injured?  Apparently Ferguson was going to sign him but saw that and pulled out staright away as he didn't have Man United "character"

Anyway its a funny old game isn't it, lol x

West Ham couldn't do any of that thanks to Daniel Levy
