Established in 1899 Marseille is a club with a history of sublime players and ridiculous owners and scandals. It's a club with fans who famously once played the sound of goat recordings from the stands at the Velodrome in protest to the awful running of the club. The very same fans who once played the Benny Hill music whenever our players had the ball to denote how terrible they were. And yes, the same clubs fans who told Patrice Evra to fuck off for being a lazy donkey ... who promptly round house kicked one of our fans.

This is Marseille.

To the goal! (That's right isn't it?)

I love Marseille, they're my favourite French club although I'll admit I don't follow Ligue 1 too much. For the reasons stated in the opening post they should be applauded, bunch of legends.

Straight to the goal, but close enough.

They're quite a cult club, its all about extremes in Marseille. We've had some incredibly gifted players, but they've usually thrown their toys out their prams when they felt they were bigger than the club.

Bordeaux of yesteryear, in particular their youth academy was something else. Nowadays, they’re a shadow of those times.

I used to go to Bordeaux for holidays so they were always a team I had a soft spot for, never made it to the stadium mind. Tried one year and we got lost, spur of the moment trip. Before tom toms and iphones.

Miguel Trauco linked with Marseille

We’d been looking at him in the summer as well but nothing came of it. He’s also been linked with Bordeaux but given our problems at fullback I’d be hopeful he will sign for us. I know little of him apart from he’s seemingly well rated by Flamengo

He's our second best player. His vision and technique are sublime. His main weakness is that at times he can be weak defensively, but get past that or catch him on his day and he is a top left back.

Another good win yesterday, I didn’t get to the watch the game, my time is not my own at the moment waiting for baby to arrive. But I’m pleased with things greatly, it’s important we strengthen this month to push on for 2nd place.

New striker unlikely according to Eyraud. @Batard are you happy with Germain and Mitroglu?

No. Not at all. There’s no pace there at all. An over reliance on mercurial midfielders who flip flop from show stealing performances to phoning it in. I’m particularly concerned that the teams average age seems to be getting older with each signing.

... But! In Strootman; what a quality signing. He’s too good for Ligue 1. But if he can stay fit, with his passing range, he offers something very different.

Marseille are looking at two Spain full-backs - Arsenal's Nacho Monreal, 32, and Liverpool's Alberto Moreno, 26 - as the French side look to strengthen their squad in January. (France Football - in French)

Bounedjah, Monreal, Moreno...

Finally got access to BeIN TV, which has the rights to La Liga and....you guessed it....LIGUE 1.

Love this league so I was a bit gutted when BeIN and ATT parted ways, thus leaving me in the dark.

Tomorrow we'll be my first match back in the league.

We absolutely have to sell. Preferably Strootman and Payet given their absurd wages. But Thauvin is the most sellable asset. However, he's prone to home sickness and he's going to be expensive - especially now he's broken into the France squad finally. It's a gamble

If you are going to buy him, play him on the right or centrally, that's where he does the most damage cutting in on his left. It's his pace that makes him look more than a one trick pony in Ligue 1, but in England the level of defending will be up a notch. Honestly think he's better off sitting tight, it's a comfortable level for him
