And I agree that it makes sense to pick the club you support (your tribe) based off where you live. But we now live in the 21st century - we've got fans of clubs from London that are from the Midlands or the Middle East, we've got Liverpool fans from Norway and the Middle East, we've got fans of Manchester Clubs from London (is that new though?). Regardless, these people have chosen a side. They've chosen a tribe. The clubs they've chosen have rivals. They're likely not going to like their rivals. In the past decades there wasnt so much technology to show multiple angles of the play with slow motion replays so no one was really sure if it was a dive or not and everyone just had an opinion about it depending on what side they are on but now everyone knows clearly if thats a dive or not because of the excessive technology. I just feel sometimes what I see is overcompensating. You can have strong negative feelings and still be rational - I guess on the whole I just don't think it is and it's blinkered nonsense. Stuff like media darlings is just so incorrect, they try and sell our players every single day. We get a very raw deal from SSN etc. consistently ignoring us. The stuff this week after the Liverpool game has been ridiculously over the top, considering the amount of decisions we've had against us over the years and it is just ignored, but it is what it is. Maybe it's tradition - but there are always three fixtures I look out for when the fixture lists are out. 1.) Man Utd, 2.) Everton.... and distantly behind them is 3.) Chelsea (and that only popped up after the Rafa-Mourinho rivalry, where we also played Chelsea an outrageous number of times). That's true - college sports a bit different definitely but on the whole rivalries are so fickle, they switch depending on who's doing well.
