Newcastle will not be targetting this as a game to ensure survival.

That would be a mistake of ours if we don't. If we want to survive comfortably then we need to start beating the top 6 in a game or two like others down the bottom are. We have 1 point, a draw with Liverpool. There are a few teams who are only above us in the league because they got more points against the top 6. We are one of the better sides against the bottom 10 but could go down simply off top 10 results.

Slimani will start, he's our hope. Which reminds me of how Doumbia was our hope on loan last time we went down.

Craig Pawson and his officials have made 2 terrible calls so far.

Newcastle should have had a penalty after Gayle was tripped by Smalling. Wasn't even given as a free-kick as it was on the edge of the box.

Jones touched the ball out for a corner right in front of the assistant and he gives a goal-kick.

could call it 3 bad decisions given that Yedlin wasn't booked for a clear pull on Lingard.

On a positive note, Newcastle's new keeper Dubravka is doing very well.

I'd love to see United's set piece record compared to teams like City and Liverpool.

Such a physically imposing side being so weak at defending balls into the box just shows bad preparation. Which makes sense because they look lazily coached in most aspects.

Shelvey's been in inspired form today. lots of good tackles in and has helped out defence in general as well as helping with attacks. Very good all round midfield performance.

how the fuck has Valencia not got a yellow there? Kicks Atsu in the face. No question there should be a card there.

The only thing the ref has got right today is the Smalling dive.
