But it isn't that in the slightest. I didn't realise people aged 18+ were children? Also didn't Everton play high-schoolers in Davies and Rooney?

And it'd be weird if I watched them play for their high school.

I'd expect the authorities knocking at my door by the next morning checking my hard drive.

What does this have to do with college sports? Are high-schoolers the same age as university students? I didn't realise the starting QB for Notre Dame wasn't in his early twenties but was actually an underage child that HK85 wants to molest.

If they're really clever they will be.

Hehe, you are right but I don't think those kids would be in the athletic programs! Point is, I don't understand why it is odd to watch people in their early 20s and sometimes late teens to play sports for free at college but it is okay to watch the same aged people and older chase around a ball on a field for millions? If anything watching millionaires play games is a little more cringe.

A lot of Yankee slandering in this thread, as if they are the only culture to have a glorified 'all star friendlies'. What is the Community Shield? European Cup Winner's Cup? The Rugby League match between the Australian and English premiers? Emirates Cup? A lot of hypocrisy here.

The difference is those competitions are played out by actual clubs who have achieved something the season prior to be there. Yes in the grand scheme of things the Charity Shield isn't taken as seriously as the FA Cup or the League but you still have to win the FA Cup or the League to compete in it. But the Cup winners Cup was taken seriously, the Emirates Cup is just a high quality selection of pre-season friendlies that mean nothing other than fitness.

Largely different to selecting two teams over two geographical boundaries that really have nothing to do with English football when separated that are based on the "All Star" players coming together to create a TV event simply made to sell a product across the world and follow the route the Premier League is already on by overly commercialising our sport. The Premier League is already too much of a product aimed at glory hunting armchair fans with no connection to any team in it, we don't need more of this shit.

Look at the Champions League final getting in pre-game entertainment in the form of Will.I.Am, that isn't football that's just greed and the sterilisation of the game we love which was inspired by the horrific event that is the Super Bowl half time show.

The issue is these people actively supporting an educational institution. That's weird for me.

School in America is different to the UK, where here is can have about 5/6 schools that could cover around a mile over there you'd just have one gigantic school with something like 1000 people per year group.

The school spirit mentality starts well before college.

It is weird to me as well but I don't think it is cringey or anything. I don't like college sports at all but I don't deny their meaning to people. Georgia for instance, their NFL team is atrociously run but their college teams are marvellous. One is a franchise the others are natural developements of the sport.  The college team is closer to the grass roots for a lot of people. I know people that have no allegiance to any college but watch it reggardless for the competition.

It's interesting that it was Lukaku who suggested this.

Take a look at Belgium's line up... 7 out of the likely starting 11 play in the PL.

England vs Belgium will be somewhat of a Premier League all star match.

Yeah, but i think it would be a good game to see between the 4 top leagues

Yeah I think it would. A game against an mls all stars would finish about 11.0. Plus they wouldn' want it because it would show the league up
