The president of Greek club PAOK has been banned for three years after storming onto the pitch with a holstered gun on his belt, league organisers said.

PAOK were also docked three points and fined, meaning they drop to third place in a tight championship race with AEK and Olympiakos.

The ruling, which also includes a 100,000-euro (£87,560) fine for Greek-Russian businessman Ivan Savvidis and a separate 63,000-euro (£55,150) fine for PAOK, is open to appeal.

Players at Greek top-flight club Panathinaikos are on strike in protest over unpaid wages from last year.

Players, who are awaiting December's instalment and have not been paid in 2018, started the strike on Monday.

The Athens club told BBC Sport the players will receive December's payment on Thursday and are then expected to return to training.

Sunday's Super League game against fourth-placed Atromitos is expected to go ahead as planned.

Panathinaikos, the 20-time Greek champions, are ninth in the league and last week were given a three-point penalty for failing to pay off their debts to former German defender Jens Wemmer.

It is the latest in a series of incidents in the Super League this year.

Last week, Olympiakos players were fined 400,000 euros (£350,000) and ordered to go on holiday by the club president following poor results.

While last month, PAOK Salonika's president was banned for three years for coming onto the pitch with a gun during a Greek top-flight game against AEK Athens.

Panathinaikos is my Local team, my house is very close to the stadium and I can tell you how depressing is to see your local team (the second strongest team of the country) getting relegated. People in Athens claim that they're gonna kill the owner of Panathinaikos inside his residence if he doesn't pay the wages. Alafouzos is one of the biggest scums in History of Panathinaikos. He ruined the club financially and now he doesn't want to assume responsibility for his actions. He will just let the club fall to the second division because he refuses to pay the wages.

AEK Athens are Greek champions after PAOK lost an appeal over a points deduction which came after their president stormed onto the pitch with a gun on his belt.

Ivan Savvidis, who was banned on March 29 for three years and fined 100,000 euros (£87,560) following the incident at the end of a game with AEK, was upset that the referee had denied his team a last-minute goal.

PAOK were fined 63,000 euros (£55,150) while the points deduction meant they dropped to third place in a tight championship race with AEK and Olympiakos
