The defensive record is extraordinary too.

  • 13 goals conceded in La Liga with 29 games played.
  • 2 goals conceded in the Champions League with 8 games played.
  • 2 goals conceded in the Copa del Rey with 8 games played.
  • In total: 17 goals conceded in 45 games.

This is Barcelona we're talking about? :o

Ernesto Valverde :congrats:

Very impressive indeed and it could end up being very decisive in all 3 competitions come the end of the season. The champions league will be very tough though this year.

Impossible though? Not at all, just look at the results against Real Madrid(in la liga), Juventus, Atletico, Valencia and Chelsea, for example. This side can beat the top teams as well.

Stats: Barça have 5 home games remaining and if they were to win all five they would be champions no matter what Atleti do.  Just to note that one of those home games is against Real Madrid,

If La Liga is won against Deportivo away, would that mean Real had to do a guard of honour at Camp Nou?

You're damned right mate... The Guardia Civil have been warned already to act upon this.  Hopefully we don't see a turn of events like some decades back where they went into the Barça dressing room and told the Barcelona players that the route out of the stadium wasn't going to be as easy and straight forward as usual.

On a serious note though... I hope hey refuse to do one because it's more entertaining.  They're probably more occupied with the design of the new Santiago Bernabéu toilets by that time.

This is turning into a typical Atlético Madrid encounter now... Although not in recent times where they've been ripping everyone apart.  But under normal circumstances this is normal... Atleti went one up in the first half and now Villarreal are pressing hard with Atleti doing their nails because they're so comfortable at defending.

VILLARREAL CF 2-1 ATLÉTICO DE MADRID (FT)

RC CELTA VIGO 0-0 MÁLAGA CF (FT)

Atlético must've surely said goodbye to La Liga with that result and when they had it all done.  It's damning of Simeone to have become conservative in the second half considering they way he's had the team playing for almost three months.

As for the other game... How Celta didn't win that I'll never know.  Iago Aspas had two incredible chances to take all three points and consolidate themselves but to be honest the team was very lethargic today.

Yerry Mina must have something to do with that. The guy's character seems infectious. Hopefully Coutinho can gain Portuguese citizenship so that he doesn't have to leave on loan as there can be a big place for him in the squad. He deserves more minutes to be honest and I reckon he should have started today.

Speaking of Messi, he seems to really be taking Dembele under his wing lately and it's giving the kid confidence.

Indeed... The stories coming from within are that Messi has taken Dembélé under his wing and attached himself to the young French player who was slowly becoming a loner from the stories that were being heard.  All the players have been making it a point to bring Dembélé into everything.

Love how the Girona goals are messing up Madrid's goals against and goal difference :)

La Liga doesn't come down to goal difference as it's on head to head first and foremost and if that's the same, then the goal difference comes into play.

Yes mate I'm well aware of that. Just enjoy seeing all those goals  whistling past Navas :) How many goals did ter Stegen concede again this Matchday? :)
