Malaga will be officially relegated if they don't get at least at Levante.

If Real Betis don't win on Thursday, the top 4 will be confirmed.

Keep an eye open to the Celta Vigo v Barcelona fixture!  Don't be surprised if that ends up being a convincing win to Celta because that's the tradition in that fixture historically and plus Barça are preparing for the Copa del Rey Final which is imminent.  I can't see a victory and for Barça in this game and would be surprised if it occurred.

Other games to look out for are the Deportivo v Sevilla because Depor are fighting for their lives and getting wins in recent weeks with Sevilla chasing their city rivals for that 4th Champions League slot... That proves to be a very interesting tie.

Real Madrid v Athletic Club Bilbao because Atheltic are looking to make a late surge in the table and to appease the fan base with Real probably having their minds set on the Champions League tie. This fixture is very big in Spain historically but Real have won it traditionally , at least since the 80s because before that the team from the capital couldn't get a sniff in.

Real Betis v UD Las Palmas is also a nice one because of the contrasting situation with both clubs. Betis really want that Champions League slot in 4th place and beating city rivals Sevilla to it would be a summer long nightmare for one of them should they finish below the other.  Finally Real Sociedad v Atlético Madrid with Atleti looking to confirm their 2nd spot placing in the table but with their minds set on the Europa League Semi-Final against Arsenal and also La Real wanting to finish the season positively.

Valverde has rested his whole strongest 11 against Celta, which means the run will end tonight.

Well the record is broken and to be honest, preparing for the Copa del Rey Final is more important than trying to stay unbeaten. Those sorts of things can end up being a dry slap in the face to be fair.

He's awful, isn't he?

What's wrong with playing Carles Aleña in these type of games?

terrible.  No doubt low on confidence but that just something simple.

Thats a great match between Celta and barcelona so far, both the teams had some great chances and Ter Stegen's save on the first half was brilliant.

Unzue, Marcelino and Setien are the three managers whose teams im trying to watch as much as possible in la liga this season.

think that's why Aspas should be going to Russia. I know he's in the Spanish squad but he's predatory and come on leaps and bounds this season. Fortunate but if he hadn't gone for it it wouldn't have been a goal. 2-2.

That was definitely a handball goal by Aspas to make it the definitive result of 2-2 but all the same that's a brilliant result for Barcelona and also one that keeps Celta's integrity intact because they're a very good side indeed.  The mass rotations worked for Valverde and to be honest he had a right to make them considering the massive lead in La Liga with respect to the chasing pack.

thought the ball bounced of his chest/shoulder mate?

nah it bounced off his chest and hit his arm but was hard to see in real time.

something VAR would have ruled out to be honest.

The ball went in off his arm mate... Even if it wasn't voluntary, which is debatable, it's still an advantage off an irregular action which shouldn't have counted. All the same it wasn't easy to see in real time but shows how valuable VAR actually is and all those that argue against it should take things like these into account because even though in this case it won't make any difference to any standing in the table, last season's refereeing errors did massively.

yeah mate, I didnt realise that and should have watched the replay properly. True, football needs VAR badly as it has a great potential to rectify the majority of mistakes (the blatant ones especially).

I think VAR is valuable where final results are in question with vital decisions concerning things like what we just observed today on a handball goal, offsides that result in a goal or things like a penalty decision. You're not always going to get VAR being the definitive just deciding factor because how many penalty decisions (for example) have we seen in football where after countless replays we get all sorts of interpretations from different points of view.

All the same, it will surely raise the correct and just decision averages which is good for football in my opinion.

Real shame to see Malaga go down. They had a class few years at the beginning of the decade. All good things come to an end.
