Confirmed by the club now

“Our ambition is to win major trophies in Europe.  Arsène is the best person to help us make that happen. He has a fantastic track record and has our full backing.”

Arsène and chief executive Ivan Gazidis have conducted a full review of our on and off the pitch activities to identify areas for improvement to build a sustained title challenge.    xD

The team improved after he copied Conte's 3-4-3 and the results went his way. If he made it to the top four and the Fa Cup it would have been a solid season. Arsenal fans haven't missed out on silverware for the past 3-4 seasons and 20 years in the UCL still not good enough?

Quite sad Piers Morgan thinks the FA Cup doesn't matter. Fans like that deserve to be in perpetual mental torture.

Think he's upset considering the FA Cup doesn't paper over the cracks that they finished 5th and got spanked 10-2 in aggregate against Bayern. Not to mention Wenger gets a pay raise.

If Chelsea had gone 13 years with no league title, got knocked out the Champions League 7 times in a row in the last 16 and only ever reached 2 CL semi- finals and 1 final with the same manager would you still want him?

3 trophies in 4 years is hardly papering over cracks though. Shows they have it in them to win silverware.

They said they'll only need to sign 1 or 2 players so it'll be interesting to see who they go out and sign, if they kept Sanchez and Ozil and brought someone like Benzema and a top DM then there's be some serious talent at the club.

Exactly my point, manager's have been sacked for so much less than Wenger. He would've been turfed out of any serious top European team years ago.

You have no history or real pedigree in the CL/European Cup prior to Wenger so your expectations are high.

Wenger has been at Arsenal for over 20 years now! its not like he has just come in the club, Arsenal has not moved on since it has been in this stadium, the board made the biggest mistake by saying Arsenal will be able to compete with the biggest clubs in Europe once the stadium is paid off.  Well the stadium has been paid off now for over 3 years and still Arsenal are losing 5-1 to the the biggest clubs in Europe and getting no where near winning the title again.

We don't really have any with him to be honest, we've never been a consistently good team in the Champions League in all the time he has been here apart from a couple of seasons. Wenger would have zero pedigree if qualifying for the Champions League was similar to how it before he took charge.

It also shows that they have gone from being a league title winning team to merely  a cup team fighting for a top 4 spot.

The real joke in this is there is clearly going to be zero changes to how this club functions, even after a disastrous league and European campaign. It's clearly not working the way it's currently run if we're are wanting to win the top titles. Kroenke and Gazidis are just plain liars, especially Kroenke who I believe has no real ambition for this club to compete for the best titles.

Wenger saying we need to stick together and sign a 1 or 2 players will achieve nothing. Their is no vision at this club and that's why we underachieve year after year.

Calm down, it was a bit of fun directed at the Arsenal mob.

Shows they can't compete with you, City and United financially.

This! If Arsenal won the league it would be them punching above their weight and all of United, Chelsea & City would feel they had underachieved.

Arsenal regularly finish on par with where they should.

Regularly winning domestic cups though is a nice sweetener.

I was taking the mick out of the fact Wenger has never won anything on the European stage which is the ultimate in football. That's why I selected those quotes from your post mate.

In fairness I have to disagree with where you're going there. We DO have resources to have done a hell of a lot better but the reason Chelsea sack coaches is because they invest heavily in the football side of things.

They practically give their managers everything they desire in terms of player recruitment. If they don't get even higher profile names it's because they're difficult to get.

Yea the whole statement is laughable, same thing all the time.

Didn't know Sanchez, Ozil, Mustafi and Xhaka, came on a free. Arsenal have the resources to do tremendously better than they should, add to that having a wage bill similar to ours and City's

Biggest myth in football we are the 6th richest club in the world, our manager us now the third highest paid and as @Cicero said we have one of the biggest wage bills in the league.
