Wow... according to sources, the Campeonato Carioca will have fans in attendance as of next week. Not behind closed doors.

They just don't care in Brazil.

It´s crazy, but this is how things are done in Brazil.

Marcos Paulo is off to Lille for 15M. And they say nationality discrimination doesn't exist in football. I've seen this bloke, and he's below average at best. Yet someone who ripped their league to shreds (Quevedo or Oslimg Mora) can't move away from Peru or go to a club like Goias or Atlas at best.

Marcos Paulo is only going because he's Brazilian. Simple.

@El Profesor What is held to a higher importance to the average Brazilian fan? The state championships or the Serie A? Or are the state championships only important to the Paulistas?

State championships used to be really important back in the Pelé days.

But nowadays, most fans really don't care. The level is terrible. State championships only survive because they are the main source of revenue of states federations and in order to get elected, the CBF president need their votes.

But they are relic of the past, a source of deficit for the clubs and they also squeeze the whole schedule, with Campeonato Brasileiro starting only in April and ending in early December.

Yes, Copa do Brasil. After Campeonato Brasileiro, it's the most important national competition.

Differently from Europe though, the winner automatically qualify for next season's Copa Libertadores, which is the equivalent of Champions League.

Taca Rio semi-final about to begin.

Fluminense vs Botafogo!

Fluminense won via higher seeded team. They drew 0-0 with Botafogo and went through to the final.

Thought Botafogo were the better side though tbh.

Paolo Guerrero scores.

He's now got 25 goals with Internacional in 2 years.

"but, but he doesn't score enough"

How many games?

Also, you alluded to his lack of goals:

His lack of goals I put down to lacklustre finishing.

So you're kind of mocking yourself?

50 if I recall correctly from the stats tweet I saw earlier.

And nah I'm not. I stand by everything I said. He could have a lot more goals if he was this mature a few years younger and had better finishing. For his age, 25 in 50 games is a superb total.
