No World Cup football on this weekend, but plenty of competitive matches on television.

Watching Raith vs Hearts.

Raith went 1-0 up. Hearts equalised with a long-range effort going in top bins.

Hearts should have just got the winner but it got disallowed with the keeper coming out for a corner, Berra scoring a header, keeper going over his own player and referee disallowing it. Bizarre and odd decision.

Hearts fined and deducted points for fielding ineligible player

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44927467

Quote

Heart of Midlothian have been docked two points and fined £10,000 by the Scottish Professional Football League after fielding an ineligible player in their League Cup win over Cove Rangers.

Last week's match at Balmoral Stadium, home of the Highland League outfit, ended in a 2-1 Hearts victory.

But the contract of Andrew Irving, 19, who came on in the 65th minute, had not been registered correctly.

Of the £10,000 fine, £8,000 has been suspended until the end of next season.

The penalty leaves Hearts with three points from their two group stage fixtures.

Tynecastle manager Craig Levein said last week the Premiership club would "accept and deal with" any sanctions arising from Irving's non-registration.

Hearts failed to reach the knockout rounds of last year's League Cup, spelling the end for Levein's predecessor, Ian Cathro.

They are now three points adrift of Group C leaders Inverness and Cowdenbeath, both of whom they will meet in their two remaining matches.

They earned two points courtesy of Saturday's penalty shootout win over Raith Rovers.

The eight group winners and four best-placed runners-up qualify for the last 16, where they will join Scotland's European representatives Celtic, Aberdeen, Rangers and Hibernian

Was on a cruise a few years back with one of the people on the board at Hearts. Makes me laugh whenever they get brought up negatively in the media knowing that I've sat and had breakfast with the bloke that's probably behind it all.

Not the worst draw for Aberdeen. Always nice to get a home draw.

Having both Semi Finals at the same stadium on the same day. Can't see how this will go wrong...

Craig Levein seemed absolutely livid about it all.

Absolute incompetence on behalf of the organiser of the competition. Not factoring in that two teams might be in the Europa League...

A very amateurish look on their behalf.

I thought they moved it to Sunday because of the Europa League games?

The games were scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. But because the Old Firm are playing on Thursday, neither can play on Saturday.

They should have organised it for a weekend not beside a European midweek.

Could they not just move it to the weekend after and postpone the league games? Like they do for the FA Cup here when it gets to 5th round and beyond.

That was one of the more logical solutions. Needless to say, they came up with this instead...

First train from Aberdeen gets in about fifteen minutes after kick off.

Police Federation describes it as 'idiotic', but Neil Doncaster continues to have his head in the sand.

Went as expected to be honest. We had a striker on Thursday night and couldn't score, so today with no strikers was going to be even worse.

Fair play to Sadiq for trying.

Hopefully this sparks something in the players so they can get their finger our and find the net.

No old firm derby then Rangers v Celtic, Aberdeen have the pleasure of trying to knock Celtic off their perch, hard job to do that.

Gerrard might want to pick his words better this time.

'Class above' but now drawn once and lost once to Aberdeen.

Final is on this afternoon.

Not overly optimistic, but it's just one game and anything can happen. Really need Michael Devlin to be fit.

Unlucky there @ScoRoss, I was only keeping track of the match but when James Wilson (Man United loanee) came on I thought he might have scored the equalizer but never happened, that was never a penalty though but Lewis saved the day in that respect.

James Wilson is done as a professional after this season. His effort levels are appalling.

The referee awarding that penalty summed up his day. Wrong on so many levels it was more disbelief than anger.

I had high hopes for that lad but he seems to have completely faded away the last two years or more.
