As a Spaniard this would be enough amongst other situations in other aspects of Spanish life that result in similar sentiments on other scenarios. It's a similar situation throughout Spain in differing acuteness of sentimers. Catalonia is just another brushstroke in the makeup of Spain. The only reason it's quoted more by the outside world (outside Spain) is because it has more exposure in terms of media coverage of the times. If you were my age and Social Media coupled with everything internet is, you'd have thought the Catalonia issue is a microscopic nothingness in relation to what was lived through with the Basque chaos for 50 years. Yeah, I loved Pochettino's answer on the talk at the time when he was spotted having dinner with Bartomeu (Barça president). That's part of what football is about. There's a rivalry and it should be respected because the fans are the only ones that matter. It wonderful to see he feels the same sentiments as an Espanyol fan! The curious thing is that Pochettino has many friends in the Barça board of directors (more than in the Epanyol equivalent) and more curious is Luis Enrique's hatred of Real Madrid when not only was he a player there but the only record of a negative issue was an argument with then colleague and now coach Quique Sánchez Flores. As for Tite... I can't believe Real haven't already got the coach sorted and waiting until after the World Cup would be a massive error. They must have the name sewn up. SirBalon 2,692 Posted June 1, 2018 Share Posted June 1, 2018 Alot of inside information is slowly starting to leak out (as it usually does in Spanish football) as to the reasons behind the resignation of Zinedine Zidane as Real Madrid CF head coach. Firstly there's the fact he knew Real Madrid had been talking to names around January to replace him due to how badly the season was going and the fact they were scared of the upcoming clash against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. But that all died down when the last 16 tie against the French side went convincingly in Real Madrid's favour... Zidane apparently asked what had been going on and Florentino Pérez told him that no matter what he'd be the head coach at the club come next season! There were many battles going on in the dressing room as there have always been at that club and that's to be expected... The curious thing from what the information coming out is saying, is that the main issues weren't so much a split dressing room as has happened in the past, but the case of those in favour of Zidane as coach and those against which is where the split resided... We definitely know one major name which is Isco. Zidane didn't want Isco, but the technical team on the board kept on telling him that not only was Isco their best player but that if he were to leave he could end up at the main rival. This is something Zidane didn't get because he personally didn't care where Isco went if he left, but when Florentino Pérez was told the names that Zidane would be discarding for next season and Isco was in amongst 7 first team names he no longer wanted, he (Florentinto) said a straight NO on Isco because he knew what could occur and he didn't want that success possibly ending up in the old enemy's doorstep. Obviously Isco would've had to have done a Neymar by first going somewhere else before making his move and Isco had already told the club that he would never sign a contract which shackled his decision making in the future... If he leaves, he leaves a free man is what Isco was saying. I'm putting a lot of emphasis on Isco here but there apparently other big names that haven't been released as of yet. Zinedine Zidane's resignation caught the whole club by surprise! Absolutely everyone! Nobody knew this was going to happen including the president Florentino Pérez! They still remain in shock but have obviously began work on his replacement straight away. More news will slowly but surely filter out as the weeks go by and it'll be interesting reading it, but right now, those journalists in the know and which are still holding back certain info have stated that there are three statements that should be looked into deeper than normal with Zidane. Three statements he made in his announcement that he was resigning from his position as head coach of Real Madrid CF. These are the three sentences... "This season was extremely difficult to digest. Very little sense can be made of what occurred this season even its ending which seems amazing" "The biggest achievement during this time as head coach is without a single doubt the league title. Yeah, but he’s never really been rated as a top coach to be honest. More a diplomatic figure of egos from everything I’ve learned since he became head coach at Real. Not really a tactician at all. His Champions League record will go down as being historic without a doubt. He joins Bob Paisley on the trophies.
