Poker

Recommended Posts

Does someone here play poker online or live? I play Texas Holdem and PLO microstakes (NL5, 1$ Sit&Go and Spins, sometimes 1.50$ Heads-ups) every now and then. Despite the fact I'm into the world of poker I'm 100% fun player. I prefer to follow professionals than thrive to become one of them.

I play a fair bit on WSOP and with mates, £20 down, winner takes all so usually £120. Online free play pisses me off as wankers go all in off 37 unsuited and end up with a fucking straight against pocket aces. Fumes me.

This is my biggest gripe playing online. You have no idea how in the world the engine picks the cards it deals. They claim its random but I call bullshit on that.

I'd rather take a deck go to someone's house and play it that way. Part of the fun of poker is reading people anyways and that's very hard when you play online. Its great for learning the rules but I enjoy playing with people in front of me not online.

My ex used to work as a croupier in a casino, we used to have poker and whisky evenings with friends years ago, great fun. Mostly Texas holdem, sometimes the standard five card draw one, but holdem is much more fun.

I had trip kings on the flop last week. Some twat beat me with quad 2’s. I wanted to kill myself.

You know someone I know that has played in a lot of places for money once talked to me about the probability of having quads of anything in a real game and its almost unheard of. When it happens you just bait and gloat but the chances of that happening is next to none. I've played over 900 games myself and I can tell you I have gotten quads twice in that time.

Love playing poker.

Have talked about getting a poker night set up with friends but not come to fruition yet.

We've got a poker set at home and it usually gets some airtime around Xmas along with monopoly.

That's why playing with play money isn't poker. It's better to play the minimum stakes (0.01/0.02$) than this shit. Much less people who want to gamble there.

I'd love to play in casino but here in Poland cash games are illegal and MTTs are extremely taxed. I don't have any poker friends and I think that my hometown is too small and too boring to have an illegal poker club. The first reason for live poker is what you've already mentioned - playing with real people, and the second is most important I believe - field is so much softer live than online.

I played on a few low tables in Vegas back in 2008, it was fucking awesome. You’re bang on about freeplay. People don’t give two fucks as they’re not losing anything tangible so they just go all in.

Make it happen @Stan you'd be surprised how easy it is to get people to show up and at some point it stops being about poker and just hanging out and doing dinners, etc.

I didn't know cash games were illegal in Poland and that the crowd was harder to gather. Over here its become a once in three/four weeks thing where we all just get together and play. You're right about the stakes and how absurdly people will push just because they really have nothing to lose versus sitting down with real cash and having to make decisions on them. I've played in Vegas but whenever I go there I switch to Blackjack over Poker as I like playing that on tables more. Mind you I do this all for fun I don't think I'd ever consider playing it seriously that would ruin all the fun for me.

After all this talk I went online after months and played a game. Six hands in and I have three aces and two jacks. Some nutter pulls a royal flush with the suite I didn't have in the trip. Online poker truly is a black hole no one will ever understand. Instant app delete.

Back in 2008 even poker online was amazingly easy. And then 2011 came... Anyway, Vegas during summer is still the most significant point in poker pros' schedule. I don't know if you've already watched but Lex Veldhuis has been making videos about his old hands. It's unbelieveable how people used to play 10-15 years ago.

I always move on to blackjack when I'm tilting. It's not too good for my money usually. I lost a lot of cash and mental health because of this f*cking game....

Very unlucky but it happens... If you're that easy to tilt I don't recommend playing PLO. xD

Strangely enough i was thinking to myself earlier that i want to get back into Poker.

I started playing from a really young age, I've won thousands in my lifetime playing the game. I think the main reason i lost interest was the more i started to win on betting, as it required less effort.

I used to love playing online and local games and at the casino.

Used to be a keen poker player, mainly with mates. I’ve got a table, card shuffler and everything. Wouldn’t have played properly for 4-5 years though - this has inspired me to host a poker night soon!!

Took down 1.10$ PLO tournament on Partypoker yesterday. Of course, not for a lot of money but it feels so sweet.
