Seriously though, I don't find this to be an awful start and don't think this indicates a bad season. Hannover have been strong in the pre-season and are well organised defensively, this was never going to be an easy match. Klaassen and Osako need more time to gel and fit into our tactics, that was very obvious yesterday, but there have been some promising combinations, we just need to finish them better and become more effective in front of the goal (sort of an old problem for us...). Which  is obviously easier when we have a proper forward playing upfront, as now we mostly combine well but have no one to play the ball to in the opposition box. 

 

 

No exuses, we must be better. The midfield was tepid and we looked toothless at times.

Great drama in the Wolfsburg / Schalke game. Not the greatest of football matches but it made up for it in entertainment. I hope our scouts have been watching Josh Brooks as a potential signing.

VAR was defnitely something to behold. Ill agree with the soft penalty, Ribery's looking for it 100% at the same time that was a horrible tackle by Nordveit he should never sliding in like that in the box. So the call was Robben left too early? or that Baumann left his line early? The announcer kept saying it was Baumann but why would they make him retake the kick if that was the case? Then the Müller non goal was garbage as well; how can he do anything about that kind of deflection, thats as non intentional as it gets. These rules need to be cleared up. Its much like the penalty call against Croatia, some refs will call it a handball some wont, this grey area shouldnt exist; consistency would make too much sense.
