Maybe nobody else follows the Greek championship in this forum but I think you guys should start watching some games of AEK Athens just for Livaja. He is something else! He is so good that I would gladly welcome him back in Inter!

Today it's his birthday and I would like to wish him the best and also congratulate him for being the MVP once again.

Greek Super League suspended after ref attack

2 hours ago | European Football

All Greek Super League games have been suspended this weekend after referees went on strike following an official being attacked outside his house.

Fifa referee Thanasis Tzilos was released from a hospital on Thursday after receiving stitches for head and leg injuries caused by an assault.

The Referees' Association said: "As a sign of sympathy we will refrain from our activities until further notice."

Greece's top flight confirmed this weekend's games are postponed.

"We express our indignation of the cowardly attack against our colleague Thanasis Tzilos and the repeated attacks on referees. We will not allow those people to continue trying to terrorize us," the Association's statement continued.

Tzilos' last match was Olympiakos' 1-1 draw at Xanthi earlier this month.

Leading clubs Olympiakos and Panathinaikos both condemned the attack. "Greek football has reached the pits," said a spokesperson for Olympiakos, while a representative for their Athens rivals said, "The mafia in Greek football lives and reigns".

The games on 22 and 23 December have been postponed with no new date set.

Greek club football has been plagued with problems for years. The league was suspended in March after PAOK Salonika's president invaded the pitch with a gun following a game. The 2014-15 season was suspended three times.

The Greek authorities decided this summer to get foreign referees in for big derbies after several controversies last season.

Panathinaikos v Olympiakos: Athens derby abandoned after violence

Greek Super League side Panathinaikos say they "condemn unequivocally" the violence that saw their derby against city rivals Olympiakos abandoned.

Sunday's match was called off with 20 minutes to go after two pitch invasions and fighting between fans and police.

Players on the visiting bench were attacked by Panathinaikos fans in the first pitch invasion after just four minutes at the Athens Olympic Stadium.

Olympiakos had been leading 1-0 and were awarded the victory.

"Panathinaikos FC condemns unequivocally every act of violence that took place at the Olympic Stadium and led to the permanent interruption of the derby," the club said.

It accused "a small minority of the 25,000 fans" of failing to respect football and added: "From the administration's point of view, absolute condemnation of all forms of athletic violence is essential."

It called on the Greek government to "finally show that it stands in the face of these events and find an effective way to definitively fight the violence in the stadiums".

Olympiakos midfielder Kostas Fortounis said it was "difficult" to play in the game and pointed out that Panathinaikos players had attempted to calm their fans down.

"Both we and Panathinaikos wanted to continue but when you enter the changing rooms twice and you go back, it's too hard," he added.

"It's tragic, I can not explain it. Getting into the stadium, chasing the players... I have no words."

The first trouble broke out minutes into the game, forcing an eight-minute stoppage.

More violence followed after Olympiakos went ahead through Miguel Angel Guerrero in the 53rd minute.

Riot police attempted to contain the disorder with tear gas but as the gas started to affect the players, referee Marco Fritz called the game off.

Panathinaikos are expected to be punished with a points deduction and fine.
