Former Wales manager Chris Coleman has been sacked by Hebei China Fortune, the club he took over 11 months ago.

Hebei are one place off the bottom of the Chinese Super League with only one win in nine games this season.

The club confirmed Coleman's departure in a social media post.

It stated: "After friendly negotiation and agreement reached between the two parties, with immediate effect, Mr Chris Coleman will no longer serve as head coach."

As they lost 3-2 at home to mid-table Henan Jianye on Saturday, disaffected fans held up a banner which read: "Hello Mr. Coleman, please go home! You're fired!!!" and in Chinese said: "Coleman, your mum wants you home for dinner."

Coleman led Wales to the Euro 2016 semi-finals, but opted not to continue as Wales manager, joining Sunderland where he was unable to save them from relegation to League One.

After being sacked by the Black Cats, he took over from current West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini at Hebei.

Scenes in Beijing. Beijing Guoan decided to sack Roger Schmidt despite the team winning 16 matches out of 20 and being  2nd in the league just 4 points behind the leaders GZ Evergrande. The fans apparently didn't agree with the clubs decision... What a farewell for him at the airport.

Why did they sack him?

Apparently because they lost three matches in a row xD There were also ongoing talks about his contract renewal so probably the club owners just decided they wouldn't bother. No idea; the strangest sacking I've ever seen.

Christ, I'd just avoid managing there completely. The money is great but if you lose your job despite winning 16/20 then what's the point 😂

Yaya Toure: Former Manchester City midfielder sent off after 10 seconds in possible China farewell appearance

Toure scored two goals and made three assists in 14 matches in the Chinese second tier

Former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure was sent off just 10 seconds into Qingdao Huanghai's final game of the season.

The Ivorian's dismissal, the third of his career, was confirmed by VAR for kicking out at a Nantong Zhiyun player.

The 2-1 defeat is thought to have been 36-year-old Toure's final match in China, having joined in July.

His team had already been promoted to the Chinese Super League, winning the title by a point.

Slaven Bilic goes to China

Slaven Bilic has been named manager of Chinese Super League Beijing Guoan, three weeks after being sacked by West Bromwich Albion.

The 52-year-old former Croatia defender has signed a two-year contract and replaces Frenchman Bruno Genesio.

Beijing Guoan finished third in a coronavirus-disrupted 2020 season as Jiangsu Suning won the title.

The are the seventh club he has managed in addition to a spell in charge of his country between 2006 and 2012.

Bilic secured promotion to the Premier League during 18 months with West Brom but was sacked last month with the club one place off the bottom of the table.

The new Chinese Super League season starts in the spring but is likely to take place in a Covid-secure 'bubble'.
