Lucky I didn't go to any of the two games in the end... My boss wouldn't have been too understanding.  Maybe the first one due to the forces of nature I could've gotten away with but this second one just beggars belief.  This has NOTHING at all whatsoever to do with being "more passionate" about the game and it has got a lot to do with a lot of lack of education it seems. That may sound harsh but it's the only answer.

Why would ANYONE sit there days before and plan on using pepper gas on a bunch of footballers going to a job they're being paid to do.  Maybe those that did it should have their punishment handed out in the same manner... As they arrive to work (if the even have jobs to go to) should have pepper gas sprayed into their faces as they come off the public bus and about to enter the establishment where they're employed.

As for Gianni Infantino trying to play a game of "I want to test my power and see if they do as I say"...  What an utter plonker he's publicly let himself be seen as.  I'm so glad his nonsense words were overridden.

Not going to read the whole thread, but what happened is disgusting and was completely avoidable. This about the buses being attacked happens regularly in other countries in South America, like, Brazil, Chile, Peru, etc in Libertadores' series or WC qualifiers, but it's not common here.

It's mainly fault of the government for not modifying the soft as fuck laws, and also yesterday they/the police failed in the security operative as they allowed the bus to transit through where was a decent amount of "fans" rather than move those people to another streets with the riot police and let the bus transit to quiet streets.

Also the 100-200 spackers who did this where apparently hooligans who where furious because the police and the club had caused them to lose a lot of money in the last few days because of a lot of raids they made these days where they sized a lot of forget tickets these lowlife were selling. That and they wanted to enter the stadium by force.

They could also by motivated by the opposition to the government (who are absolute criminals) who want to taint every important event held whilst Macri is governing, when the attack happened some of them insulted the president by calling him a specific nickname, something only the opponents do. Also i repeat, these are not your average Argentines at all, these are criminals, barrabravas, lowlifes, scum, waste of jizz, marginals, piece of shit chavs that should be nuked from earth, similar to the ones who did the London riots, These compromise about 7% of the population (lowlifes, not barrabravas) and are completely different to the vast majority of the population. It would make me so happy if someone demolished the slums/ghettos and expelled all the ones living there to their countries of origin or those of their ascendants and prevented them from coming back for ever, because 90% of the people living there are from poor limiting or nearby countries or they descendants.

And also Boca "fans" did a very similar thing in 2015 where we were playing the 2nd-leg of the Libertadores quarter finals in their stadium and they pepper-sprayed our players when they were coming out for the second half, and then their players, staff and manager tried to pressure our players into playing, their clown of a manager also wanted to punch our president. The clown of the Conmebol were deliberating there for like 3 hours and then a sizeable amount of Boca's pricks started hurling stones at our players and prevented them from leaving the stadium for like an hour after it was known the match was suspended. Difference is Boca's president, manager, players and every one of them wanted and pressured for the match to be players or for us to be eliminated for refusing to play, whilst our president, manager and players not only didn't pressure for the match to be played at all but also completely supported Boca into wanting to suspend the match instead of wanting to profit from it like Boca had done before.

That's a very good post mate and I subscribe to almost everything you said aside from annihilating the underclasses. My sentiments went along your lines my friend so you shouldn't get upset.  They're not football fans... They're idiots!

Copa Libertadores: Boca Juniors call for final against River plate to be delayed further

Boca Juniors have asked for Sunday's rescheduled Copa Libertadores second leg against River Plate to be delayed further.

The violence forced Saturday's second leg in Buenos Aires between the two bitter Argentine rivals to be delayed.

The Boca Juniors team bus was attacked by River Plate fans on its way to the game at River's Estadio Monumental.

The game was rearranged for Sunday at 20:00 GMT, 24 hours later than planned but is now in doubt again.

Boca has urged South American football's governing body Conmebol to take action so that the match can be played "under equal conditions".

The Boca Juniors team bus was attacked by River Plate fans on its way to the game at River's Estadio Monumental.

The game was rearranged for Sunday at 20:00 GMT, 24 hours later than planned but is now in doubt again.

Boca, who were held to a 2-2 draw in the first leg, have urged South American football's governing body Conmebol to take action and allow those affected by Saturday's incidents to recover further.

"Club Atletico Boca Juniors made a formal presentation to Conmebol on Sunday to request that the final of the Copa Libertadores be played in conditions of equality," said a club statement.

"After the acts of violence suffered in the vicinity of the stadium, having noted the magnitude and seriousness of them and the consequences they have generated in the establishment, Boca considers that these conditions are not met and requests the suspension of the match."

Boca players suffered cuts from the glass from broken windows and were also affected by the tear gas used by police to disperse the crowds.

A number of players, including Boca's former Manchester City, Manchester United and Juventus striker Carlos Tevez, reportedly suffered from dizziness and vomiting and were being treated by club doctors.

Footage apparently from inside the Boca dressing room showed the players groggy and disorientated.

Reports said Boca's Pablo Perez and Gonzalo Lamardo had been taken by ambulance to hospital, the former with slivers of broken glass in his eyes and the latter a cut on his head.

Earlier, the head of Conmebol, Alejandro Dominguez said he wanted the rescheduled game to pass off smoothly with the safety of the players, technical officials and fans guaranteed.

"We call for a peaceful final with respect between rivals to show the best face of South America to the world," he said.

"We want immediate action from the authorities and will help to identify, capture and prosecute those responsible."

The Copa Libertadores is the showpiece club competition in South America, equivalent to the Champions League in Europe. The clubs had agreed to a ban on away fans which mirrors an existing ban in domestic football in Argentina.

Three years ago, a last-16 Copa tie between River and Boca at the latter's La Bombonera ground was abandoned at half-time after Boca fans attacked the River players with pepper spray in the tunnel.

Boca were kicked out of the competition, while River were given a bye into the quarter-finals.

I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't played at all to be honest. If that does happen it would be the third final this decade to not be finished.

The 2018 Copa Libertadores final second leg between River Plate and Boca Juniors has been postponed until further notice following the attack on the Boca team bus on Saturday.

The match had originally been scheduled to take place on Saturday evening but was held back until Sunday following the chaotic scenes which left several Boca players injured.

But just three hours before Sunday’s rearranged 5 pm kick-off (8 pm GMT), the South American football confederation confirmed the match would be suspended, giving no timescale for when it would be played.

Alejandro Dominguez, president of Conmebol, said there are not “equal conditions” for both teams after Boca players were hurt on their team’s route to Estadio Monumental, the home of their fierce Buenos Aires rivals. 

Earlier on Sunday, Boca had appealed to the governing in body in a statement calling for the match to be called off. ”Boca considers that these conditions have not been established and asks for the game to be suspended and sanctions applied,” the club said.

The match had been billed as the final to end all finals and one of the most significant in the history of world football, but the abiding memory of the weekend will instead be the shattered bus windows and unruly streets which brought the game to its knees before it had even begun.

This is all a bit of a conundrum on whether or not to play behind closed doors or at another venue.

Punishing the club when the security authorities (the police) got it wrong is something to think about and then punishing the majority of the fans which are the normal ones and not those that caused the shocking attack on the Boca bus and players is wrong.

The problem is that blaming the police directs blame also to the government (local government) and we all know how politicians are like snakes at wriggling out of any situation revolving a Mea Culpa.

Don't worry about it too much, Argentine's aren't really sentient, so it's kind of like kicking a tree. Sure it is alive, but you can't have an intelligent converstion with it.
