I'm struggling to say where he'll end up. It's surely going to be for a fraction of what he went to you for isn't it?

He's got to be just about the biggest flop in the league's history really.

He was always even a bit overrated at Real Madrid, when Real Madrid fans' frustration with Benzema kept on growing and there you had this relatively young striker from the city itself that would score regularly enough when given the chance. It was in that context that this sort of hype generated about him but it was also a Real Madrid team that played to his strengths when he was on the pitch, in the way that they just fed him chances. Benzema would offer something different while Morata did similar movements and took up similar positions to Ronaldo and hence was never going to nail down a starting place for long enough no matter how well he played. It was that situation with Benzema that helped escalate his reputation whilst also the fact that the quality of those Real Madrid players was of the highest level in Europe. He wasn't only playing with very good players but good players that played to his strengths.

He's had some decent periods of form for us but overall yeah he has been disappointing. In saying that though, I still see something in him as a player.

Mentally weak. Just like the other #9 before him.

His mental issues are probably his biggest problem.

At his best, he's a decent goalscorer. Oversimplifying things here a little but pure goalscorers are useful and there have been many top strikers over the years that just score goals. Take away those goals though and they become a bit useless. Morata's one of those strikers when he's not scoring, there's not much else there.

When Morata has a good game, it's normally because he's scored and there might be some other good general play thrown in that he offered which I believe however is solely a byproduct that comes from his confidence after scoring or from being in good form.

You need this guy mate!

His name is Ramón Ábila Wanchope aka "EL ANDROIDE"

Honestly, trust me mate!  This guy is different and never before has anything like him been seen in the Premier League...  Nobody will know how to cope.  You do need a specialist software technician for when he malfunctions every now and then.

@Cannabis has put him on Everton's wish list for Christmas.

Reckon a return to Spain is looming. Not as good at a team like Real/Barca/Sevilla/Atletico. But maybe someone like Valencia? Or perhaps similar level side in Italy (anyone below Juve, perhaps).

Sometimes it just doesn't work out at a club but then they transfer to another, and get their confidence back and the goals start coming again, like Andre Silva at AC Milan/Sevilla. Didn't work out too much at Milan, made a loan move to Sevilla and hit the ground running there. The fortunate thing there is that it is a loan move, so he could come back to Milan with much more confidence than he left with.

Not saying Chelsea may loan Morata out, but it wouldn't surprise me in general if he moved away and started scoring for fun.

Look at Iago Aspas and what happened to him.

No point in keeping him, he was gash last season. He showed zero improvement from last season, he is injury free now no excuses. How can he start when he misses an empty goal every other week. I doubt we will get even half the money we paid for him, and i worry that we won't be able to find a suitable replacement for him. Then again a blind lamb would score more from his chances.

When you’ve turned out worse than Lukaku in this United team, you must be fucking awful.

Aye, Lukaku might not be another Andy Cole but at least he puts a shift in...so far.

Man Utd supporters are delighted that Romelu Lukaku is leading the line instead of Chelsea player Alvaro Morata.

United fans are a relieved bunch on Twitter this morning after Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata wasted a glorious one-on-one opportunity against Burnley - and then threw his toys out of the pram when he was substituted.

Jose Mourinho prioritised signing a No.9 last summer after Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered a serious knee injury and the Spaniard, who was playing for Real Madrid, was high on his shortlist.

The pair previously worked together at the Santiago Bernabeu and it was Mourinho who handed Morata his professional debut back in 2010.

Mourinho was in regular contact with Morata ahead of what seemed an inevitable signing before United gazumped Chelsea and landed Romelu Lukaku in July. Morata, meanwhile, moved to Stamford Bridge.

As you say that's partly the problem, When he has to be part of a team that doesn't do that he is not a good fit... When playing at somewhere like Madrid with those players he was bound to get 5 or 6 decent chances to score and he only had to tuck one or two away and he looks quality, At Chelsea he might only get a couple of decent chances in a game and if you fluff your lines which he is prone to doing he is found wanting.. He has turned out to be another Shevchenko.. plenty of promise that has just gone unfulfilled.. If he moves on at least we can start hunting down a more effective replacement...

I always thought that myself, He just never came across as a strong minded player, when he was going through spells where he was not doing well or missing easy chances he seemed to slump mentally, he would be sitting on the floor bemoaning his bad luck and yet you would never see him pick himself up dust himself off and raise his game..

He got knocked off the ball far too easily for my liking and lacked the physical strength as well as the mental for this league.. When you compare him to Drogba as an example you realise just how poor his overall game is.. Hardly does any defensive work for the side either, I don't see him tracking back and getting tackles in to help the cause... Makes you realise what a great player Drogba was, his overall game had strength, skill, power and he was feared by defenders, could create something from almost nothing at times... I don't see many sides being all that worried about seeing Morata's name on the team sheet..

I think I remember one or two goals he scored for Madrid, Spain or Juventus that were outside the box but that was it. He barely even shoots outside the box and most of his play is inside the opponent’s penalty area. Costa and Drogba used to muster a bit of space for themselves and shoot, that isn’t in Morata’s armoury. As I said, Morata is a poacher at best and you’d think considering I think we create the 2nd largest number of chances in the league you’d find him on the score sheet a bit more often. Hasn’t happened consistently enough though thus far.

Özil is indeed a flop. Not just a flop, a massive flop when we take into consideration his status and his contract. Those things count whether people like it or not because in the real world of employment you get paid for what you produce.  Compare his contract to that of others on a similar contract around Europe.

People get mislead by status and aura. Then when the guy performs every now and then to the level that’s expected from him they use that as a hammer to hit you with while forgetting 70% of the season.

Ozil has got worse since his pay rise, he has no fight and hunger.  Really hope some other mug is out there to take him away from our club.

People will just quote you stats, stats that are infact static stats.

Özil is an extremely talented footballer but has wasted his career. He won't be remembered by anyone and I challenge anyone to tell me that 20 years from now he will be one of those players where club fans where he played will bring him up as a club legend (forget even saying football legend in general). Germany have had dozens and dozens of better players throughout history, Real Madrid obviously have had too and at Arsenal he won’t be remembered hardly at all.

But his contract by comparison tells us that he should be a protagonist on the world stage.

That is because sections of Arsenal fans are crying out for a World Class player and hold on to everything Ozil does, its very sad.

The thing is that some of them hold onto those rare excellent moments he pops up with very rarely.

Like with Wenger the majority of fans are turning to see what Ozil really is.  It looks like Emery does not want Ozil anywhere near his team, even though he must get pressured by the board because of Ozil's huge wages.

Like those that aren't fatally indoctrinated are seeing what a grave error voting to leave the EU is. But there are still those that no matter how you put the facts to the, still believe something that never meant great is in actual fact great.
