Liverpool centre-back Joel Matip faces up to six weeks out after suffering a broken collarbone.

Liverpool should count themselves lucky Fabinho is versatile. Think he can play RB and CB

Probably one of the reasons we signed him tbh.

Does this mean it's only Van Dijk and Lovren as fully fit centre-backs?

Yep, at least out of the senior players. But we let Ragnar Klavan move on because of Nathanial Phillips, so I imagine he's 5th choice.

Got to hope Lovren keeps himself fit now. The amount he's injured too though, I'd be surprised

Not just injured, he inevitably gets a cold or a flu that keeps him out for a match or two, twice a season. Got the immune system of a 12 year old from the 1400s.

VVD suspended for our next CL game means that Lovren (if fit at the time) will be our only CB.

Terrific!

Maybe a dip into the transfer market, or risk playing a youngster?

Won't the next CL game be in February? Both Gomez and Matip should be back by then. We're fortunate in a sense that these injuries aren't soft-tissue injuries.

Matip's only out for 6 weeks. He'll be back by end of January.
