Paul Pogba - Man Utd Future In Doubt

Recommended Posts

Paul Pogba is wanted by Juventus and might try to buy him back for less than he was sold for, according to Tuttosport.

The Italian club have €80m they're willing to spend and are weighing up Pogba or Real Madrid's Isco.

They can have him with his multi-colored hair and earrings for all I care, you would think that a player of his ability that has fallen out with his manager would play his socks off and show his ability instead of sulking like a 10-year schoolkid that's just lost his packet of crisps.

Any new manager of Man Utd would love to have Pogba in their side and if Mourinho isn't sticking around then I don't think they should get rid of him. Why Man Utd would want Mourinho to stick around would be strange as well. Makes bad situations worse by burying his own players.

Mourinho's never had a proper 4th season at a club to show he can bounce back from his 3rd season mental breakdown so if he does stay, at least it'll be interesting to see how that goes.

My perception is that the Pogba (on how he feels about life at Man Utd) situation has gone beyond Mourinho being the coach.  Psychological situations tend to aggravate themselves more as they fester and aren't seen to with the party suffering them suddenly creating a bigger bubble that encases all the problem bubbles.  There comes a point when this sort of thing occurs that one needs a fresh start so as to totally leave the seeming problem behind.  Obviously sometimes this can be seen as not facing upto your battles and burying them in the sand instead of defeating them.  But in a case such as work (which this is what we're fundamentally talking about), and work which relies heavily on confidence which is also a mental state, then the recommendations are that a fresh start is the best solution for all parties.

Can Juventus afford him?, the numbers behind the Ronaldo deal are enough to be skeptical of that possiblity and if Barcelona also can't and if City don't want him, it can only really be PSG.

Juventus are keen to re-sign their former midfield star Paul Pogba next summer. The Frenchman is still in touch with many former team-mates and despite the sacking of José Mourinho, the Old Lady hopes that during the next transfer campaign, there could be a chance to take the Red Devil back to Italy.

According to Tuttosport, Manchester United are not standing against Pogba’s possible return to Juventus. The Premier League giants, in fact, could discuss the possible sale of their midfielder if Juventus allow Douglas Costa to travel the opposite direction.
The Turin-based paper claims Manchester United have offered Juventus to swap the two players at the end of the season.

Pogba’s impact on the Red Devils’ balance sheet is around € 50 million but Ed Woodward is looking for an € 80 million sale, at least. With Douglas Costa included in the deal, Juventus could lower Pogba’s price-tag and complete the player’s return to Turin at the end of the season.

Love how he includes the 2 players he likes the least.

Incredible the heights he goes to just to have a pop.

Looking on the Premier League site, Pogba comes in at a lowly 63rd for most tackles (23) - the highest other midfielders being Gueye (83), Ndidi (72), Moutinho (71), Billing (70), Diame (63), Milivojevic (58), Felipe Anderson (53) (!!), and many more. You'd think being a 'complete midfielder' would mean you make more than 23 tackles 5 months in to the season. Kante, albeit low by his standards, is on 38.

Pogba also comes in at a lofty 1st for most dispossessed player in the Premier League - a total of 54 times so far. You'd think being a 'complete midfielder' would mean you'd be able to hold on to the ball a bit more comfortably and not have such a high amount of successful tackles being made on you. The next highest is 44, for comparison. Kante, also for comparison, has only been dispossessed 36 times.

Pogba places in at joint 5th for highest amount of fouls by a midfielder, committing 32. Others above him are Milivojevic, Ritchie, McArthur, Gueye, Gomes, Xhaka. You'd think being a 'complete midfielder' you may have a bit more discipline about you and perhaps not commit so many fouls, many of which could be due to mistimed tackles.

Just a few 'truth bombs' for you mate.

Now, not only does that show that you can use any kind of stats to suit your own argument (like you do with Pogba's goals (even though he's not the highest-scoring)), but it does also go to show he's still not a 'complete midfielder' as you love to label him. Just stating facts. Not being able to keep possession, doesn't make that many tackles for a central midfielder, comparatively commits a lot of fouls. Not really the hallmarks you'd associate with a complete midfielder.

Pogba is easily up there with the best midfielders of the league and world. He's been unleashed since the cancer left and is proving it was almost entirely down to Mourinho that he wasn't showing his best. Stats do not tell it all, his domineering carrying of the ball and intelligent passing has been at the centre of Manchester United's revival. Showing some table trying to compare with a clown like Xhaka is ridiculous, there is a real desire for people to bring Pogba down, at first I thought it was just moronic mourinho lovers but perhaps there is something more sinister at work.

Now that's some real truth bombs Stanley.

Maybe they both are?

You always seem to think that because someone doesn't agree he's the 'complete midfielder' that that automatically means they think he's shit. Totally not the case. He's not shit, obviously not. He's just not up to the standard you elevate him to.

I agree with TAD that he's been 'unleashed' since Mourinho left but just as much as you can use stats to peddle him to be some kind of elite footballer, I/we should be allowed to use other stats to bring him down a peg or two. It really isn't rocket science.

As for TAD saying it's sinister, all I can do is laugh xD. Yes stats don't tell it all but why do you ( @José) only rely on goals/assists earlier in this thread? Nothing sinister about not wanting to paint him as some world-class footballer just yet. He's been at United for 2 and half years and it's only now he's showing some real consistency and being at the heart and influence of some very good attacking football from United. He still has some way to go to being one of the best midfielders or a 'complete' midfielder, though.
