He released it yesterday. What the fuck?

That's to do with him being charged with sexually assaulting a teenager at a bar in Massachusetts...

On Monday, Mr. Spacey posted a video in which he appears to deny any wrongdoing while in character as Frank Underwood from House of Cards.

"I'm certainly not going to pay the price for the things I didn't do," he says in the clip.

"You wouldn't believe the worst without evidence, would you?" he asks. "You wouldn't rush to judgments without facts."

After reading that I still don't understand how integral this phone is to the case... the accuser does seem a bit shady now though.

Imagine if he actually didn't do anything wrong? We had to endure a poor final season of House Of Cards for nothing. And his career was ruined for nothing as well.

If he didn't do anything wrong and had his career/reputation ruined, I imagine he'll be suing the fuck out of Netflix. Especially for them treating him as though he was guilty before he'd even been convicted. Trial by public opinion is pretty dangerous for that reason, because initially he was getting panned. And this accuser.

But at the same time, there's more than just this one accuser (although this accuser's the only one that came forward with allegations that got him charged criminally, and the civil case this accuser put forward was also dropped). And he was just questioned by investigators from Scotland Yard.

The phone seems integral because apparently it includes texts that were alleged to be factual by the prosecution... but there is no evidence of these texts existing other than the accuser saying they existed. So the phone would be the evidence necessary to prove those facts, and without those facts it's just a one man's word against the other - which you can't convict on. And considering that this guy chose to plead the 5th to not incriminate himself... it doesn't look particularly good for the accuser and for the prosecution. And that does make it seem like Kevin Spacey was done in by false allegations.

And if other allegations are true, but not this one, then this man is a massive prick for coming forward with his allegation. Because if it's found that this accuser is just a bullshitter, then he's made actual victims less likely to be believed in the future.

Case dropped by Massachusetts prosecutors.

Prosecutors in the US state of Massachusetts have dropped a criminal case against Kevin Spacey.

Mr Spacey, 59, was accused of groping an 18-year-old man at a bar in 2016.

But indecent assault and battery charges were dropped on Wednesday after the accuser refused to testify about a missing phone, which the defence said could prove the actor's innocence.

Mr Spacey has faced several sexual misconduct accusations but this was the only one to result in a criminal case.

The claims date back to three years ago, when the accuser says Mr Spacey bought him alcohol and groped him at a bar on the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

The accuser was ordered to take to the stand this month after he said he lost the phone he had used on the night of the alleged assault. Mr Spacey's lawyers had accused the man of deleting text messages and said the phone could be used to prove their client's innocence.

However, he invoked his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination and refused to testify.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office saidthe "unavailability of the complaining witness" had led them to drop the case.

The announcement comes after the accuser earlier this month announced that he was dropping a civil case against the actor.

The accuser's lawyer, Mitchell Garabedian, said in a statement on Wednesday that his client had "shown an enormous amount of courage under difficult circumstances."

The allegations came after another actor accused a then 26-year-old Mr Spacey of climbing on top of him on a bed when he was just 14.

Mr Spacey apologised for any inappropriate conduct, which he said he could not remember.

Amid multiple other allegations of misconduct, the Oscar-winning actor was later dropped from Netflix series House of Cards and had his scenes edited out of the film All the Money in the World.

The Nantucket case was one of few criminal cases to be brought as a result of Hollywood's #MeToo scandal.
