TF365 2018 Team of the Year (The Results)

Recommended Posts

2018 is wrapping up in a few days and I'm away for a while on a little holiday break, before I go it's time to announce who has made TF365's Team of the Year following a month of voting.

Goalkeeper - Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid)

Substitute - Marc-André ter Stegen (FC Barcelona)

Right-Back - Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid)

Substitute - Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea)

Centre-Back(s) - Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) and Diego Godin (Atletico Madrid)

Left-Back - Andy Robertson (Liverpool)

Substitute(s) - Marcelo (Real Madrid) and Jordi Alba (FC Barcelona)

Centre Midfield (Defensive) - N'Golo Kante (Chelsea)

Substitute -  Sergio Busquets (FC Barcelona)

Centre Midfield (Attack) - Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona)

Substitute - Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)

Left Wing - Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

Substitute(s) - Neymar (Paris) and Lorenzo Insigne (Napoli)

Right Wing - Kylian Mbappe (Paris)

Substitute - Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Forwards - Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid/Juventus)

Manager - Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool)

Assistant - Josep Guardiola (Manchester City)

So there you have it, our stars for the year. Jan Oblak stands inbetween the sticks after an impressive calendar year for Atletico Madrid where they finished 2nd to champions FC Barcelona. Interesting to note that neither of our goalkeepers made an appearance on the big stage in Russia, instead dominating domestically.

The right and left back positions are covered by Dani Carvajal and Andy Roberston respectively with both playing in the Champions League final (although Dani came off injured on the night). Both have carried their form since January into the new season as have our centre-backs, Diego Godin and Virgil van Dijk.

In the middle, N'Golo Kante still has his supporters in the holding role with the GOAT Lionel Messi operating in the number 10 role. Out wide, another Chelsea star in the shape of Eden Hazard starts alongside World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe who finishes with the same number of votes as Salah but grabbed his supporters quickest.

Up front, Harry Kane leads the line after his Golden Boot in the summer alongside Portuguese talisman Cristiano Ronaldo who has been in fine form both for Real Madrid, securing them a third successive Champions League title and his new club, Juventus.

Jurgen Klopp leads the XI into battle after taking Liverpool to the Champions League and the top of the domestic table heading into 2019. Josep Guardiola, current winner of the Premier League is his deputy.

Carvajal - Godin - van Dijk - Robertson

Mbappe - Kante - Messi - Hazard

Kane - Ronaldo

Interesting team. Robbo probably a sentimental favorite but has been a huge sensation for liverpool this year. Not entirely convinced on Mbappe over Salah or Hazard over Neymar but overall not a bad side.
