Manchester City have reportedly made an offer for Juventus striker Paulo Dybala, but the Italians are holding out for a bigger fee.

Manchester City are among three sides who have made an offer for Juventus striker Paulo Dybala, according to reports.

Dybala, 25, joined Juve in 2015 from Palermo, and has gone on to score 75 times for the club in 162 appearances with 28 assists.

But if City were to have a bid for Dybala accepted, the report says they would have to pay over €100 million (£89.8m) to secure his services.

I know you can pursue more than one signing at once and they don't exactly need to pinch pennies, but surely City have to focus on covering/replacing Fernandinho who isn't getting any younger. As good as Dybala is, there comes a point of diminishing returns on signing quality attacking players and the hole in the squad at that holding midfield position is gaping compared to the quality depth they have elsewhere.

Manchester City do need another attacker, but a centre forward rather than a Dybala type, because Jesus really hasn't kicked on and has spent most of his City career trading off the fact that nobody heard of him when he signed and he scored in several of his opening appearances so he was dubbed a next big thing. I'm sure he will end up getting a couple more elite moves to clubs that think he'll be world class for them because he'll fit in better before he becomes an AC Milan/Atletico Madrid's bench journeyman.
