Eyewitnesses said the whirling column of air and water lifted containers in the city's port area. There were no reports of any injuries. The rare phenomenon was observed at about 15:00 local time (14:00 GMT), officials say. A waterspout is an intense columnar vortex that occurs over a body of water and quickly dissolves over dry land. His family say they have now abandoned their home in Afghanistan, after receiving threats from the Taliban. An 18 year old Saudi girl who renounced Islam and fled her abusive family and transited via Thailand for a connecting flight to Australia for asylum had her passport seized by a Saudi diplomat who met her coming off the flight at the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport. Thailand were initially going to deport her back on Saudis request, but the girl barricaded in her airport transit hotel room and tweeted her story live which caused a big uproar and now she's been finally allowed to meet UN refugee agency representatives and has been promised protection and safe passage to another country (probably Australia).
