Warnings, suspensions and bans

All,

Over recent weeks it became clear to us as a staffing team that we needed to discuss and review the rules and how we intended to implement them. As part of this I have separately carried out post reviews on members to gain a more objective view of what has been occurring around the forum.

Since we came to be in 2017 we (the staff) have taken a fairly relaxed approach simply because you are all adults. To avoid labouring the point, over the last few months it had become clear the landscape was changing.

As part of the aforementioned post reviews the members listed below have been excluded from the site. The suspensions are for 'memberating', overt baiting of members/staff, persistent infractions including - but not limited to - passive aggressive posting, instigating unnecessary arguments and deliberately divisive behaviour that could damage forum membership growth. I personally combed through six weeks of posts for a sample group of posters (and again, not limited to the below).

I want to be abundantly clear, the team that moderates this forum does the very best it can in any given circumstance. We make mistakes like anyone else and sometimes there simply is no way to please everyone.

The following members have been suspended:

@Marc 6 months

@José 3 months

@Mpache

He demanded that his account be banned/removed from the forum. After a swift discussion amongst staff members a unanimous decision has been made to accept his request.
He has also demanded that staff members do not follow him on other social media platforms. We will endeavour to ensure his demands are respected.

Also tagging @Tommy for fun.

@shut up

Yesterday, staff were placed in a difficult position when we were made aware that an established member of our community had made a comment where the inference was deemed racist in nature.

Shut Up was asked to clarify his post and he chose not to do so. Since then he has made no effort to explain himself, withdraw his post or apologise for any offence that could have been caused.

Staff members consulted for a significant period of time over this matter and it was agreed a week suspension would be most appropriate. Our zero tolerance policy when it comes to racial slurs/comments is clear in the forum rules and is something that we will ensure is regularly enforced should any similar incidents occur.

We are aware of the contribution Shut Up has made to the forum over the previous 4+ years and we hope this is an isolated incident that will not reoccur once his suspension has been lifted.
