I nearly got denied a ballot because I didn't have my polling card or ID. You don't need either but I wasn't allowed to go through to the booth. Thankfully I was able to go back and get it and get my vote in but won't be happy if it turns out people couldn't vote at all because they didn't have either on them. I was the same although living in a small village I sort of knew the people who were running our polling station.
