Incredibly sad news that North Ferriby United have been formally wound up and no longer exist. People may remember them for a memorable FA Trophy win against the far bigger Wrexham in 2015. Used to go there quite a bit as they were my most local side usually, always played Hull in pre-season. Know people involved at the club personally, will effect many people.

Very sad news indeed. Went to their home match v. Gainsborough Trinity a month ago and did some reading on their plight. Some of their diehards that write their superb fanzine were outside the ground and you could tell that they cared about NFU like it was their own family. Their owners seemed crooked beyond belief but as it's not on Sky Sports News no one gives a fuck about them - see fellow strugglers Staines Town, Colwyn Bay, Thurrock last year, etc. Can be an awful environment at that level unless you have genuine resources.

Leyton Orient (87 points) could be promoted back to the Football League later today.

They play Solihull, who are in 3rd on 84 points.

If Orient win and Salford don't beat Fylde, then Orient are automatically promoted.

Final round of fixtures in National League & North/South divisions, too.

Orient in pole position to get promoted back to Football League. Only need a point against Braintree which kicks off soon on BT Sport.

Salford and Solihull need a big swing in goal difference if they were to win the league but may just have to settle for play-offs.

Stockport just need to match Chorley's result to stay on top in NL North.

Saw some new rules this morning for sin-bins to be introduced at 5th tier of Non-League downwards.

If a goal-keeper is sin-binned, they have to come back out on pitch before ball goes out of play then they can swap back with the outfield player that went in goal xD

Knew those rules were coming in. I believe they trialled it during the 18/19 season in a couple of leagues. No idea how it went, mind.

That particular rule is bonkers but makes for some great entertainment.

Given the state of just about every other team's finances these days this has gone a bit unnoticed but today Gateshead have been removed from the National League for a series of rules breaches, mainly financial, just days after seemingly being salvaged. Likely down to the Northern Premier now with Aldershot and a couple of others repreived. Genuinely feel for their fans, decent and proud following who have gone through shit this past while. Can't help but wonder just who else will follow in the coming years...

Bloody hell that takes me back xD He was an absolute myth for Rovers for about eight weeks in spring 2004, scored three winning goals in three consecutive matches that kept us in the Premier League that year. Sadly never replicated his form again for Rovers and looking at his Wikipedia he seems to have turned into a bit of a journeyman so the step down, especially to an ambitious non-league club close to home, will hopefully give him a good end to his career.

I thought he still had a bit of time left in the football league to be honest! I know he's getting on a bit but like you say it's close to home for him so may be a natural end to his career. Good luck to him.

Not that much difference in fairness between the top third of the National League and the lower half of League Two I think, probably nicer to be at a club with a bit of drive playing easier opposition than going to Morecambe and desperately try and stave off relegation.

Decent little project Harrogate have going on at the moment though, they managed to slip under the radar last season because of the Salford love in, but are building to be a serious force to be reckoned with I think.

Hats off to the guy, although there were no crowds lining the streets it was the thoughts and the achievement of winning the league that counts. :ay:

Duckpond FC celebrates league win with an open top bus tour

A Sunday League football team has celebrated winning the league with an open-top bus parade.

Duckpond FC, formed in Harwich, Essex, in 2011, has won the Colchester and District Sunday League.

The club has marked each promotion since it was formed with a bus parade and party in the town. It's the third time the team has marked success in this way.

Player-manager Michael Hammond said: "We want the world to know we won."

Mr Hammond, 29, who founded the club, spent £4,000 hiring a double-decker bus, plane banner and advertising for the day before the tour made its way around Harwich on Saturday.

Duckpond FC won the league and then secured the Fowler Memorial Cup Final last month, beating Harts FC 3-0 to secure a double.

The team won 15 out of 16 matches this season.

Mr Hammond said the celebrations on Saturday left many of the players "feeling delicate" on Father's Day.

"We've won all the divisions now - we're officially the best Sunday League team in Essex," he said.

"Grassroots football is dying, so many teams are folding or have quit.

"But it's on days like this you realise it's not the level of football but the passion and commitment."

The team can go no higher in the Sunday League in the county, and are now calling themselves "champions of Essex".

Mr Hammond said he was unaware of any other team at this level who celebrates in this way.

The club formed in 2011 and is named after Cox's Pond in Harwich.
