Final Score - 38th Game Of The Season...

70th Minute: "You join us with twenty minutes to go of this Premier League season.... As it stands Ipswich Town are struggling to break down West Ham United at The Bobby Robson Arena and Tottenham Hotspur have just eaqualised at Chelsea as Aldaberto Penaranda has just cancelled out Balde Keita's opener. So as it stands Tottenham and Chelsea will be playing European football next season and Ipswich Town will be missing out".

73rd Minute: "And there's a red card at The Bobby Robson Arena!!! An absolutely terrible two footed tackle by young Matt Swift on Mark Cullen has given the referee absolutely no choice! It seems like the occassion has got too much for The Irish International! Ipswich Town down to ten men and they're in deperate need of a goal!"

80th Minute: "And how has the red card had an influence on the match at The Bobby Robson Arena? Well so far it's had no effect at all as Ipswich Town are increasing the pressure on there opponents! Teddy Bishop has had an effort just fizzle past the post and Axel Tuanzebe's header just clipped the bar as it's gone over! Ishak Belfodil has also been bought on to increase attacking options, but as things stand it will still be Ipswich Town missing out on European Football!"

80th Minute: "And what's happening at Stamford Bridge? Well it's all Tottenham at the minute as they push for a second goal! Courtious did brilliant to tip over a shot from Saul and Harry Kane's headed effort was cleared off the line by David Alba! It's nervy stuff for Chelsea who will still play in Europe next season if this result stays the same!"

87th Minute: "And there's a goal at Stamford Bridge!!! How massive could this be?!? It's that man again Aldaberto Penaranda who has scored from six yards out with three minutes to spare! Ipswich Town are three minutes away from Europe!!

91st Minute: "There's a goal at The Bobby Robson Arena!!! .... But it's gone to the visitors! Alex Iwobi found Nikola Vlasic free at the far post with a deep cross and he just couldn't miss! Heartbreak for Ipswich Town as there players have collapsed to the floor! They know the referee is going to blow the whistle as soon as the restart happens! They had European Football in the grasp of their hands and in the last minute they have blown it!

93rd Minute: "The final whistle may have blown at The Bobby Robson Arena but there's at least some consolidation for Ipswich Town and there fans as Munir has eaqualised Chelsea in the 93rd minute. Meaning that Ipswich Town would have had to win to qualify for Europe".

I mentioned it @Storts thread about how this man's face haunts me every time I play him on this game. But this is a new low. I cannot wait for him to retire:

SEASON PREVIEW : IPSWICH TOWN 2023/24

Ipswich Town prepare for the season after a summer of big transition under the guidance of Dave Curry and Frank MacParland.

They've lost two big players in Matt Swift and Axel Tuanzebe after release clauses were activated. But there is still reason to be optimistic after the signings they've made.

Here's a break down of the squad as they prepare for their first game against Wolves:

Goalkeepers:

Matthew Ryan

Nick Hayes

Nattapol Klin-Pheng

Australian International Matthew Ryan was signed from Arsenal for six million after losing his first team place half way through the season. For that price, this could be a fantastic piece of business as he adds more experience and presents competition to Nick Hayes. Vietnamese Goalkeeper Nattapol Klin-Pheng is likely to remain at the club as backup.

Full Back:

Jordan Amavi

Aaron Cresswell

Jay Da Silva

Joshua Emmanuel

Ashley Clarkson

Jordan Amavi was signed from Stoke for nine million. His experience in The Premier League and European Competitions along with his age should provide a useful alternative to the ageing Aaron Cresswell and the unimpressive Jay Da Silva. Joshua Emmanuel should be fit for the new campaign and Academy player Ashley Clarkson provides good cover at right back given how he impressed last season.

Central Defenders

Sven Van Beek

Tommy Smith

Jamie Eales

Trevoh Chalobah

Losing both Axel Tuanzebe and Matt Swift is no doubt a massive blow but Tommy Smith and young player of the season Jamie Eales have already established a good partnership. Sven Van Beek also brings seven years of experience as the former captain of Southampton at the price of eleven million. Trevoh Chalobah was linked with several Premiership and Championship clubs at the beginning of the window but is now likely to stay.

Defensive & Central Midfielders

Issac Hayden

Reuben Loftus Cheek

Joe Allen

Jack Wilshire

Ahmet Gunes

Flynn Downes

Issac Hayden & Reuben Loftus Cheek both are rumoured unhappy but start the campiagn at Ipswich Town. Joe Allen provides experience in midfield whilst Jack Wilshite signed in January is hopeing to put an injury plagued career behind him. Ahmet Gunes was signed from Manchester City for £4,000,000 after impressing on loan at West Brom last season. Academy player Flynn Downes will be hopeing to build on last season when given opportunities.

Attacking Minded Midfielders

Teddy Bishop

Tarique Fosu

Andree Dozzell

Gianluca Gaudino

Teddy Bishop appears to be forcing a move to Tottenham and Ipswich fans would like him to stay but they may have already signed a replacement in Gianluca Gaudino who arrives from Bayern Munich on a free transfer. Tarique Fosu and Andree Dozzell will also both be hopeing to build on succesful seasons.

Strikers

Tammy Abraham

Andrea Pinamonti

Jordan Venayre

Patrick Bamford

An area that Ipswich Town have surprisingly heavily invested in despite Tammy Abraham's good form. Andrea Pinamonti arrives from Manchester City after failing to impress on loan at AC Milan for nine million. Whilst Championship Top Goalscorer Jordan Venayre also joins from Manchester City for seven million after his impressive loan spell at Watford. Patrick Bamford has been scoring for fun at Seattle and for Ireland for the last six seasons and would like one last chance in The Premier League so has joined for five million.

Transfer recap:

Signings in:

Matthew Ryan (GK Arsenal £6,000,000), Jordan Amavi (LB Stoke £9,000,000),  Sven Van Beek (CB Southampton £11,000,000),  Ahmet Gunes (CM Man City £4,000,000), Gianluca Gaudino (CAM Bayern Munich Free), Andrea Pinamonti (ST Man City £9,000,000), Jordan Venayre (ST Man City £7,000,000), Patrick Bamford (ST Seattle £5,000,000).

Signings Out:

Matt Swift to Liverpool - £27,000,000. Release clause activated.

Axel Tuanzebe to Stoke City - £15,000,000. Release clause activated. Fans were fuming.

Ishak Belfodil to Al Arabi - £4,000,000. Recieved a huge pay rise.

Luke Hyam to Newcastle - Free, Contract Expired.

Izzy Brown to Leeds United - Free. Contract Expired.

Players likely to leave before September 1st: Alex Smithies, Jordan Rhodes, Danny Dalton & Ben Morris.

Players That Could Leave:

Issac Hayden to West Brom - £20,000,000. Player been unhappy for some time.

Reuben Loftus Cheek to Manchester City - £23,000,000. Player wants European football.

Teddy Bishop to Tottenham - £35,000,000. Player unhappy that offer was previously rejected.

Media Prediction: Tenth.

Was going to lay into the Bamford signing but considering everything I can see why you made it. Gaudino is a good signing. He's a very decent player.

I'm still looking at Dozzell but I don't think I'm ever going to end up actually going through with it. Is he much of a goal threat for you?

Missed this post. Dozzell was excellent in The Championship, struggled to adapt in his first PL season but progressed as the second season went on. This season is quite crucial for him.

I avoided in the end, I think he's gotten too old to really be worth gambling on, he's still quite good but hasn't developed as well as I'd have hoped should I have actually signed him myself.

Half Way Review - Ipswich Town

It's been a season that most Ipswich Town fans would have hoped for so far. Even if there has been some frustration along the way.

Ipswich Town have spent the majority of the season in seventh place, and when they have come close to breaking the well established top six they faltered. This has happened on four occassions, and that's not including the dropped points against Liverpool when both teams were on the same points.

There has however been a lot for Ipswich Town's fans to be happy with. The club have reacted well to the departures of Axel Tuanzebe and Matt Swift as several of the new attacking minded signings have made an impact. The 4-1 victory over Manchester City, the 5-2 EFL Cup win against Chelsea and the last minute victory against Manchester United will live long in the memory for fans.

For Ipswich Town to improve on the second half of the season they will need to improve their performances against weaker opposition in the last half hour. The 3-2 loss to Wolves, the 2-1 loss to West Ham, the 2-2 draw to Watford and the 3-3 draw to Southampton have all been games where Ipswich Town have thrown away a convincing first half lead.

Squad Breakdown:

Goalkeepers:

Alex Smithies 7/10, Nick Hayes 6/10, Matthew Ryan 6/10. This has been Ipswich Town's fundamentally week position. Matthew Ryan started the season in goal, and after a couple of costly errors was replaced by both Nick Hayes and Alex Smithies to see how they'd cope. Matthew Ryan was immediatly very vocal about being dropped and has not been since. Alex Smithies, who was told he had 'no future' in the summer, has since been first choice Goalkeeper.

Wing Backs:

Jordan Emmanuel 8/10, Ashley Clarkson 8/10, Aaron Cresswel 7/10, Jay Da Silva 6.5/10, Jordan Amavi 6/10The Left Back Position has once again been a problem with nobody being able to claim a space as Aaron Cresswell ages which has forced Tommy Smith to often play in that position again. On the right however it has been a different story. Ashley Clarkson, who has been touted as a future England Right Back, has been excellent.Whilst Joshua Emmanuel, who is on Liverpool's radars, performances haven't dropped either. Emmanuel is currently first choice with his experience and ability to go forwards.

Center Backs:

Sven Von Beek 8/10, Trevor Chalobah 8/10, Tommy Smith 8/10, Jamie Eales 7/10. Very pleasing position once again. Sven Von Beek has settled in a way that would make you think he's been a part of this team for years, and surprisingly he has created a very good partnership with Trevoh Chalobah, who has been a backup player for the previous two seasons. This had led to England International Jamie Eales not playing as much as he would have liked. Tommy Smith has been regularly covering at left back due to his consistency and versatility.

Defensive and Central Midfielders:

Reuben Loftus Cheek 7.5/10, Issac Hayden 7.5/10, Flynn Downes 7/10, Ahmet Gunes 6.5/10, Joe Allen 6/10, Jack Wilshire 6/10  Loftus-Cheek and Hayden have remained at the club and continued in the fashion that many expected in terms of there consistent performances. Once surprise has been that Academy Player Flynn Downes has made the transition and looks comfortable in the first team. Gunes' opportunities have been limited thus far whilst Joe Allen and Jack Wilshire have remained fit but failed to make an impact.

Attacking Minded Midfielders:

Teddy Bishop 9/10, Andre Dozzell 8/10 Tarique Fosu 7.5/10, Ginaluca Gaudino 7/10 Teddy Bishop remained at Ipswich Town and fans will be delighted as his performances have signalled everything that Ipswich Town are about. His goals, assists, creativity and tenacity have been focal to all of Ipswich Town's success and the fans will be hopeing that the club reject any advances from Tottenham in January. Andre Dozzell is another one who has had to perform in many different roles but has been sucessful in doing so, whilst Tarique Fosu who missed the first ten games due to injury has made an impact since returning. Gianluca Gaudino has struggled to adapt to his new surroundings but fans will be hopeing more from him as the season continues.

Strikers:

Andrea Pinnamonti 9/10, Patrick Bamford 9/10, Jordan Venayre 8/10, Tammy Abraham 7/10. Ipswich Town have been full of goals this season and they have there new Strikers to thank for it. Whilst Tammy Abraham has had an injury hit season and been a shadow of his former self when playing all three new Strikers have stepped up to the mark. Pinnamonti and Bamford have been prolific in front of goal for both club and country whilst youngster Jordan Venayre has made vital contibutions at times. These signings have worked better than any fan could have imagined.

January Transfer Window:

It's unknown how Ipswich Town will fare in the transfer window or even if they will feel the need to strengthen. It's likely that there will be more departures than players coming in as Matthew Ryan, Jordan Amavi, Jack Wilshire and Joe Allen are believed to be unhappy with there lack of football.

Ipswich Town fans have been ranked the worst performing team in the January Transfer Window in an online poll.

When the question was put to Talksport listeners on who was to blame for the failings to attract players the view amongst fans was mixed.

Fans were blaming owner David Curry for not living to his promise when he took over the club a year ago that he would take Ipswich Town to new heights where they had not been before.

Other fans were blaming David Currys appointment of Frank MacParland as director of football. They cited that Frank MacParland had never taken on such a position at a club with such ambitions after spending most of his career as a Director Of Football at various Championship clubs.

Other fans are pointing the blame to Aaron Cpfc, stating that his faith in academy players is most likely the reason why nobody was signed and maybe it's time the club looked elsewhere if they are to move to the next level.

On the other hand, there is still support from fans who state that the academy players who have played well when given opportunities deserve more opportunity. Adrian Millers two recent goals against Arsenal and Stoke City have been cited as a common example.

Ipswich Town failed to win any of their first four games of 2024, getting knocked out of the FA Cup to Arsenal in the process, but the feel good factor appears to have returned with a 4-0 demolition of Brentford.

Matthew Ryan and Jack Wiltshire have left the club perminantlt to Newcastle and Fulham respectively, whilst Fulham were also able to loan Jordan Amavi. Gianluca Gaudino has had difficulty settling in England and has joined Valencia on loan.

Ipswich Town fans were left feeling frustrated as the 2023/24 season drew to a close after a series of missed opportunities saw them finish ninth in the table - Being overtaken by Wolves and West Ham in the process.

Whilst Ipswich Town came very close the season before to breaking up the well documented top six, being a matter of minutes away from doing so infact, this season was completely different story as neither Chelsea or Tottenham really had to look over their shoulder at The Tractor Boys.

What makes matter worse is two teams in Wolves and West Ham United who have signed predominantly young English players break in to the top seven for the majority of the second half of the season.

A combination of new signings failing to settle, no signings in January, and injuries to key players have prevented from Ipswich Town from progressing this season. The clubs most key addition Teddy Bishop is unlikely to kick a ball until Christmas due to a cruciate injury.

It's believed that Ipswich Town will invest heavily this summer to improve the squad in a bid to achieve European Football. Goalkeepers and new defenders are likely to be the target areas due to the lack of quality in these positions.

Star Players:

bdb2fab3a9e196807f3926582aba7c3c.png

Ashley Clarkson RB/LB 8/10 : What a season the 18 year old break through talent has had. Playing in over half of Ipswich's games this season and scoring three goals in the process. He was proven to be a reliable and sturdy acquisition that looks way ahead of his years. Now an England Under 21 regular, the sky could be limit for this young superstar.

137f998583636d3d76b587e1d8a6841d.png

Teddy Bishop - AM(C) 8/10 : Before his injury Teddy Bishop was looking forward to playing in his first tournament for England this summer but a cruel twist of fate means he will not be kicking a ball again until Christmas. With his dream move to Tottenham not unlikely to materialise. Ipswich Town will be hopeing he will be the same player again when he returns.

Inter_Andrea_Pinamonti.jpg

Andrea Pinamonti - ST 9/10 : 21 Goals this season in the end for The Italian Striker. Whilst his goal tally did dry up significantly in the second half of the season he's still likely to win the POTY award at the club as he looks forward to playing as Italy's Number 9 this summer. Ipswich Town fans will be hopeing he doesn't have too good of a summer mind with a £35,000,000 release clause appealing to others.

European Championships 2022/24

Winners : England

In what can only be described as a miracle considering they failed to quality for the Canadian '22 World Cup, Walter Mazzaris Men beat Russia 2-1 in the final thanks to two first half goals from Harry Kane to lift the trophy.

From an Ipswich perspective Andrea Pinnamonti had a great tournament for Italy, scoring four goals for the semi finalists, attracting interest all around Europe in the process.

How's Pinnamonti doing? He was a bit of a wonderkid at Inter when I managed them but never really broke into the first team and in the end went out on loan a few times. He has great stats though so I'm guessing more often than not he'll do a job for whatever team he plays for.

I've just seen that you finished 9th last year too, while it's disappointing for the fans it's surely still a good result for a team of your size?

Great for two thirds or the season and is clinical for Italy. I'm confident he'll go for a large fee at some point but his history at Milan at Man City will more than likely deter clubs.

Ninth is where the medai predicted us to finish so I can't complain. This owners a bit relentless though and seems to think the skys the limit but has restricted me in the process by giving a lot of power to my director of football.

Adam Desmond (GK) - Nottingham Forest (Free Transfer)

Signed after a very succesful Euro '22 campaign for Ireland, Adam Desmond joins Ipswich Town after being first choice Goalkeeper for Nottingham Forest over the previous four seasons. He leaves Forest after two years in League One and two years at mid table in The Championship after letting his contract run down and he's expected to start as first choice for Ipswich Town.

Current Ability - Darren Randolph.

Potential Ability - Shay Given.

Current Ability - Carl Jenkinson

Potential Ability - Wayne Bridge

Reece Burke (CB) - Everton (£5,500,000)

Potential Ability - Scott Dann

Archie Mitchell (ST) - Everton (15,000,000)

Another player who arrived from recently relegated Everton. Mitchell has scored 31 goals in the last two seasons and was clinical before that in The Championship on loan to Wigan. At the age of 21 it's likely that Mitchell will only get better and should offer a valuable alternative to Abraham, Pinamonti and Bamford.

Current Ability - Callum WIlson

Potential Ability - Jamie Vardy

Player Sales:

GK - Nattapol Klien Peng - Failed to agree new contract with third choice Goalkeeper.

LB - Aaron Cresswell - Retired.

Ipswich Manager on brink of sack following first half of the season performance!

  • Manager is 5/4 to be next manager to be sacked
  • Twelve points in last 15 games.
  • Five points above the relegation zone.
  • Chairman has had enough
  •

Ipswich Town are rumoured to be losing patience with manager Aaron Cpfc after what has been described as a disastrous first half of the season.

The Tractor Boys currently sit in fourteenth position and have recorded only two wins since September 1st.

It's believed the chairman wanted to qualify for Europe this season which now seems like a distant dream and it's likely Aaron Cpfc and his coaching staff are going to pay the price.

The news has put both Wolves and Stoke City on high alert who have both recently sacked there Managers.

So what's gone wrong?

The season appeared to be going well for Ipswich Town as they picked up ten points in there first four games.

Defensively they appeared solid. Adam Desmond was adapting to The Premier League well, and both Jamie Eales and Reece Burke were forging a partnership in the center of defence. 'The old guard' in midfield of Reuben Loftus-Cheek, Issac Hayden and Andre Dozzell were all competitive but it was noted that Ipswich Town were having difficulty scoring goals in the final third of the pitch.

That has unfortunately been a common theme throughout the whole season. Abraham is the clubs top Goalscorer with four goals, but other than that Andrea Pinamonti has scored once, and both Archie Mitchell and Patrick Bamford are yet to score a league goal this season.

With difficulties scoring confidence as a whole has struggled. Jamie Eales has shown periods of inconsistency, and clubs are finding a way through both left backs. Adam Desmond's performances appear to have nose dived in the last month too.

Is there any chance of saving his job?

Ipswich Town do have a favourable month of fixtures heading there way in January.

The Manager will also be delighted that Teddy Bishop will be returning from a nine month injury to add some much needed creativity in midfield.

However many believe it will be a big ask for him to immediately show the form he has done over the previous four seasons.

It's also been noted that whilst injured Teddy Bishop has asked to leave the club for a bigger club with both Liverpool and Tottenham interested.

Long time left yet but it's not half frustrating when your season seems to have fell apart early doors. It's precisely that that made me sack Leicester off. So frustrating when you feel you've gone backwards.

Bishop asking for a move after 9 months out? xD

End Of Season Review 2024/25

Ipswich Town have relieved Aaron Cpfc from his duties as the club look to take a new direction following a ninth placed finish this season.

Many believed Aaron Cpfc may have done enough in the second half of the season to keep his job as the Manager was allowed to integrate youth players back in to the first team and the club appeared to be on a surge of revival. They won ten out of a possible thirteen games which propelled The Tractor Boys back in to reckoning for a European place. This however was combatted with one point in the final six games, forcing the owners to make a decision.

Aaron Cpfc's time at Ipswich Town will be looked back upon to most as a success. In his first half of the season he took The Tractor Boys from flirting with relegation to the crisp of the playoffs. He then narrowly missed out on promotion in his first full season before gaining promotion the following season. He then took Ipswich Town to four top half finishes in The Premier League and several academy players have made there debuts due to emphasis on nurturing academy players.

Galatasary Manager Jan Olde Riekerink has emerged as the early favourite for the job as Ipswich Town look to compete with the power of teams around them that have made several impressive appointments in the last year. These include West Ham replacing Leonid Slutsky with Antonio Conte, Liverpool replacing Claudio Ranieri with Massimillano Allegri, and Tottenham replacing Paulo Fonseca with Real Madrid Manager Zinedene Zidane.

He was a prick for doing that. He was fuming that I wouldn't sell him in January, and then Walter Mazzarri butted in saying he wouldn't pick Ipswich players for an England squad because we don't play at the highest level. After that Jamie Eales, Ashley Clarkson, Issac Hayden, Andre Dozzell and Reuben Loftus-Cheek all wanted to play for bigger clubs. I knew there was no coming back after that.

Wales 7 - 3 Cameroon

Nobody anticipated such a result as Wales ran riot in Aaron Cpfc's first match as Manager.

Andy Bumford opened proceedings with a fine strike on nine minutes before getting his second before the 20th minute mark.

At the start of the second half Alan Robertson scored a header before substitute Lee Harrington scored from close range.

After this it became the Andy Bumford show as the Ginger fiery Striker converted a penalty he won before scoring two more goals before the 75th minute.

Cameroon scored three consolation goals in the last fifthteen minutes as Wales appeared to relax a little too much, but overall it was a very pleasing effort.

Raitings: Clark 7, Roberts (DaSilva 7), Bennett 7 (Williams 6), Robertston 8, Davies 8, Thompson 7 (Taylor 7) Wessons 7, Wilson 8 (McCreesh 8), Williams 8 (James), Bodin 8 (Harrington 9), Bumford 10.

European International League Division B

Group One Review

As seen in the below screenshots, Wales found themselves relegated in somewhat unfortunate circumstances due to Norway's ability to win matches when they weren't being outplayed by other opposition.
