Sarri to Leave Chelsea

I want to know more about why he's left. Is it because he doesn't want to be there, or is it because of typical Chelsea shite - player power and the fact that Sarri didn't immediately win the league (despite meeting his league objectives and winning a European competition)?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's typical Chelsea shite. You can tell the board has the attitude of some of their fans (not you @Cicero, @Bluewolf, @True Blue, @carefreeluke - you're all grounded and realistic) that if you're not an instant success, you're a failure. He didn't immediately win the league playing swashbuckling Sarri ball, so even though he's met his league objectives and winning a trophy, some of their fans have been on Sarri's back all season over their league performance. But expecting a side that's been built for defensive football first and foremost, over several managers, can immediately transition into playing good football and immediately be successful in the league is insane.

Strange decision from Chelsea, unless they're going to go with some specialist in bringing through young players while they've got a transfer ban.

Either way, I'd never go to Chelsea if I were a good manager. You go there, you've got a job for maybe 2.5 years tops. I guess the payout is nice if you're sacked, but I think here it's a mutual termination, no?

I don’t blame him for wanting to leave in all honesty. Given he’s not exactly popular amongst the fans and they’re likely to be heading into a transfer ban this summer, he can leave now with his head held quite high and his reputation pretty intact.

While I’ve not always understood his philosophy this season and it’s had it’s ups and downs a third place finish and a European trophy is about as good as you could expect as a Chelsea fan this season, for me.

I'd like to know just how many times he was asked whether he thought he deserved to be sacked.

I'd be a bit fed up after that too.

Roman really is tightening the purse strings?!

More like no manager wants to come here. :what:

- Transfer ban.

- Hazard gone.

- A squad incapable of competing for the league or Champions league.

- Injuries to Reuben Loftus-Cheek and CHO.

- And no reassurance from the board. Which is the rumored reason why Sarri wants to leave.

I think it's pretty incredible not so much as a peep has come out of the club with everything going on.  Transfer ban, Hazard leaving, Sarri leaving, etc. No update or reassurances. Nothing. Leaving millions of fans just left completely in the dark. We finished the season on such a high note, yet this whole mess has completely shafted our morale.

The mediocre manager story could just be the option that fits the media narrative of Chelsea in disarray

Maurizio Sarri: Chelsea boss says 'the call of Italy is strong'

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri says he misses Italy amid reports he could leave the club to join Juventus.

Sarri's future has been the subject of debate all season despite only moving to Stamford Bridge from Napoli last summer.

The 60-year-old led Chelsea to third in the Premier League, the Carabao Cup final and won the Europa League in the final against Arsenal on 29 May.

"For us Italians the call of home is strong," Sarri told Vanity Fair.

"I feel that something is missing. It has been a heavy year. I begin to feel the weight of distant friends and elderly parents I rarely see.

"But at my age, I only make professional choices. I won't be able to work for 20 years. It's hard work, the bench."

Sarri says his relationship with the Napoli fans will not change even if he does move to a rival Italian club.

"The Neapolitans know the love I feel for them. I chose to move abroad last year and not to go on an Italian team," he said, having managed them from 2015 to 2018.

"The relationship will not change. Loyalty is giving 110% when you are there. What does it mean to be faithful?"

Sarri, who is due to hold talks with Chelsea about his future, said he thinks he "deserves" to stay at the club after their 4-1 Europa League final victory.

Maurizio Sarri set to sign three-year deal with Juventus

Maurizio Sarri is set to join Juventus on a three-year contract after securing his release from Chelsea.

The Italian’s agent, Fali Ramadani, met with the Premier League club on Friday and came to an agreement with the Chelsea hierarchy that means Sarri is free to join Juventus. The Serie A club, champions in Italy for the last eight seasons, are confident they will not have to pay a fee for the 60-year-old, who was a rival to the Turin club when coach of Napoli.

Sarri only joined Chelsea last summer after three years at Napoli, replacing compatriot Antonio Conte but despite winning the Europa League and qualifying for next season’s Champions League, last season was an uneasy campaign in west London. Chelsea also reached the Carabao Cup final, but lost that against Manchester City in a game that will be remembered for the farcical scenes that followed the goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga refusing to be substituted before the penalty shoot-out.

The news of Sarri’s departure, although long anticipated, came on the same day that Real Madrid announced the signing of Eden Hazard, Chelsea’s star player, for an initial £88.5m, which could rise to as much as £130m.

The club are also facing a two-window transfer ban from Fifa after being found guilty of breaching rules regarding their dealings with overseas players under the age of 18. Chelsea confirmed on Friday they have appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

To replace Sarri, Chelsea will now look to former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri, Nuno Espírito Santo of Wolves, Javi Gracía of Watford, Laurent Blanc, a free agent since being sacked by Paris Saint-Germain in 2016, and former player and all-time leading goalscorer Frank Lampard, who led Derby to the Championship play-offs in his first season in management.

The fact Chelsea haven't fought this surely tells us part of an odd story. There is absolutely no sense whatsoever in letting Sarri go because even if he did want to do the Juve switch, making a statement to the Chelsea fans by showing a compensation was demanded should've been the route to take.

The situation at Chelsea FC is a very strange one indeed and really isn't an easy one to understand.

News he’s officially gone.

Embarrassing. What a mess.

Fuck man. That sucks. With Sarri, BR, Rafa, Klopp and Pep all going round the EPL manager pool was at its most entertaining since the era of "I'm on Setanta Sports"

A shame because I think he could have done serious things with Chelsea if he was given a few years and was possibly backed. I like Sarri and I'll miss him from the Premier League but he ultimately deserves better than the basket case that is Chelsea at the moment.

Fair play to him for leaving. Why would he not want to go back to his own country? He's been wrongly underappreciated in his first season in England.

He finished 3rd behind 2 record breaking teams. Won a European cup and got to the final of another. CL football is secured next season... all whilst trying to implement a brand new style of football and getting shite off moronic Chelsea 'fans'. :bye:

You always got a feeling from very early in the season(after that small good run of results ended), that the people who run the club and the manager didn't like each other. Add to that the British media that constantly undermined Sarri, spreading stories about him being sacked. Even on the eve of the final there were stories about Lampard replacing him.

The thing is that football rumourology is a part of the game. Sarri's personality doesn't take kindly to what he deems as idiocy and if Chelsea had done their research before they contacted him for the job, they would've seen with ease that he is his own person. When you sign someone like that, you have to back him/her. Imagine for example signing Diego Simeone and disputing his decisions?
