Eco
Quote Adil Rami banished from the Marseille 1st team La Provence and RMC report this morning that French World Cup winner Adil Rami did not appear at the first day of pre-season training today and that his club Marseille are currently initiating a suspension procedure against him for a currently unknown reason. This procedure launched by OM against Rami is understood to have already been underway before Pamela Anderson publicly accused the central defender of domestic violence and adultery last week. Rami received an email from Marseille in mid-June to inform him that the club was undertaking an internal investigation into his conduct, without mentioning what specific actions of his had led to this decision. Whilst the investigation continues, he is banned from the training centre, until July 9th. A possible exit interview is due to occur with the player in the coming days. Rami personally is suffering greatly from this decision and his view is that the club is merely doing this to save on having to pay his salary, with OM already under strain of FFP restrictions. By claiming wrongdoing against the former Sevilla defender, they would be able to terminate his contract without paying a considerable termination fee. However, Rami’s behaviour is understood to have frustrated Marseille representatives throughout the 2018/19 campaign. Two episodes that occurred at the end of the campaign stand out – his graphic response to criticism of internet site Le Phocéen, where he posted a superimposed photo of him taking a p*ss on a poll that saw him voted as the 1st player that OM should sell this summer. Second, his presence at the Monaco Grand Prix with Pamela Anderson when he should have been present at the Vélodrome for the final match of the league season, for which he was officially-speaking injured.
