Which outsiders are people fancying tonight? Lincoln and Fleetwood could have good chances if they carry their form over from the league

Leeds

Tonight was a case study in the difference in fitness between young lads and fully grown men, no matter their footballing ability. The kids played Rochdale off the park at times, but that extra energy (or lack of it) put paid to the result at the end.

Doesn't matter. The chatter, the WhatsApp groups, the forums, they're alight with how much pride we've all got in this core of Bolton-grown lads. Administration on the brink of liquidation: there's seemingly nothing better to unite a fanbase.

God, I'm looking forward to this season.

Went to Tranmere last night, first game in far too long. A much changed side but the new signings look like they could go on to be first team regulars, honeyman looked very good. Blew them away in the first 6 minutes, 19 seconds is, I think, the fastest goal I've ever seen live. Could and should have been far more in the first half, but the goal just before the half time whistle ended it as any sort of contest. Second half Tranmere were much the better side, hit the bar/post and I thought could have had a penalty for handball, although I was at the other end of the pitch so possibly not. The lad on loan from Villa was a constant threat in the second half but Hull were just going through the motions really. Will probably make the effort to go to Preston away next round, could get back into this actually going the match malarkey.
