Liverpool should have had a penalty. However it was the right decision with the var set up not to override it. This is the bit of VAR I think needs to improve. Last year the referee probably would give it but this year they are being more lenient I think because they think var will correct it for them. Same for every team though I suppose so it evens out. Didn't matter in the end because Liverpool scored a minute later

VAR is supposed to make sure the right decision. What is the point if they are scared of overrulling the ref?  That being said, I don't want to debate about VAR haha.

That being said, Mane makes it a second. What the goalkeeper is doing, I don't know 😂

I can see the argument for only overruling grievous errors. It would be outrageous if 51-49 decisions were leading to penalties territorially being awarded after play had carried on...

A bit like the cricket umpires call approach.

That famous Anfield atmosphere

I know...certainly pales in comparison to the mighty Brentford crowd.

I thought it's sounded alright for an early kick off. Plenty of encouragement from the crowd when we went 1-0 down

Newcastle the better side in the second half. Wind must be going towards the Liverpool goal

They were when I made the comment I think. Liverpool playing better now. Wind must have changed direction again ;)

No but we aren't playing well. I'd swap ox for Lallana.

This is familiar from when Bruce took us to big clubs, it's difficult to know what's best. We did get a 0-0 draw at Anfield in probably the worst game of football I've ever been unfortunate enough to be present at but it was the Liverpool of Balotelli et al.

Firmino there. Shame Robertson couldn't finish, would've been a brilliant goal

Liverpool playing like they are loosing. Constant pressure. Just got a feeling Newcastle might get something out of this on the counter

We need that third goal to put a bit of comfort on it.

Switch over and Firmino instantly does that to set up a goal.

Outrageous player.

It’s 6amish here. I didn’t really sleep from the night before and I’m still fairly fucked up from last night. But I watched this and I just want to say: Bobby Firmino - what a player

I think @SirBalon was right... Firmino isn't worth £28m.

Hes worth about £128m :D

I still maintain that at the prices that were being used at the time of the signing of Firmino for Liverpool. Firmino's success is more of an enlargement and expansion of Jürgen Klopp's legacy and career. He is a football philosopher just like Guardiola and has an idea which he makes a team believe in. Cruyff himself used to say to players that if they genuinely believed in what he was dreaming up that they would become great footballers.

Bobby is incredible. And it's down to his awareness. The sexy stuff is only brilliant and effective because of his awareness.

I am not comparing him to the great Ronaldinho, but he is doing similar kind of stuff with the whole style and swag.
