Goes to show how stats are misleading.

Liverpool were not in the game at all until the goal they scored.

Utd not lucky to get a point. Based on how poor they were, Liverpool would take it, as shown by comments above.

Stats don’t paint the whole picture. For the second half you just sat deep and went long, so you didn’t create much in that half. And I also imagine quite a few of our 10 shots came after our equaliser, when it did look like we might grab a late winner - which you’d expect after a match where you’ve just conceded late and you’re tired because you’ve not had much of the ball so you can’t set the pace, it kills your energy.

But United started brightly and defended really well. It was probably your best performance of the season and it was one of our worst, up there with Napoli.

Having said that, it’s a joke that your goal stood after VAR review and you’re a bit lucky that stood. But we’re also lucky we made the breakthrough. Like I said, it’s a strange one because I think we’re both lucky to draw yet also unlucky not to win.

Still undefeated though

Why get rid of it altogether, offsides and handballs fine. The thing is what people are trying to 'fix' can't really be fixed, much of it is interpretation and VAR aren't going to overrule the referees when an argument can be made both ways. Human error has always been part of football officiating and I don't think it's that horrendous to live with.

Don’t let the facts get in the way of a good VAR rant.

Interesting matches ahead for Ole before we play at OT again, Partizan (a) EUROPA, Norwich (a) League, Chelsea (a) EFL Cup and then Bournemouth (a) League then Partizan at OT EUROPA, I wonder if Woody Woodpecker will decide to make a change and Ole moves upstairs...or back to Molde sooner than later, I wish Woody could join Young with his head in the blender @DeadLinesman suggested then the Glazers can follow them after.

Next year this match shouldn't be televised.

I agree. Last few seasons there have been plenty of better games to air.

To be honest I feel like I've had the same argument many a time about VAR. Handballs are a farce, the rules have been changed to make it easier for VAR but they've totally taken any common sense from the game. Plenty of decisions based on inconclusive replays as well. I'm still yet to see a conclusive angle that Son was offside against us. I'm time and time again watching decisions given on the back of replays that just aren't quite enough to say for sure.

It isn't fit for football. Nobody will ever convince me it is as much as you try. Certainly not in its current state. It's not fitting with football. The nature and pace of the sport is too much for it.

People actually scared to celebrate goals now. That's tragic.

Good point, watching the World Cup Rugby and seeing a try being given the VAR treatment "was it a try or wasnt it a try"...when you have 6 or 7 guys lying on top of the guy that the try might be given to sometimes can take up to 5 minutes to decide with all the angles but that's VAR in Rugby, not football.

VAR in football is a lot clearer relating to football handballs etc than it is in rugby, it's not as if you have 3 or 4 guys tripping a footballer over or 3 or 4 guys all putting their hands up touching the ball and the VAR angled shots take a look at it.

Wouldn't say we weren't in the game until we scored. The equaliser was coming

Scared?

Give over. Yesterday against Burnley everyone celebrating. Didn't see any fear or anything after Vardy & Tielemans scored theirs.

Mini cheer every time the game kicks off again after a goal. Just doesn't feel right.

Thought we were poor overall today despite how much ball we had. Toothless in attack and I think ultimately Origi isn't good enough to be first reserve for the whole front 3, but it's not all on him. Can't figure out why we were crossing from deep so much with Firmino and Mane, who (I'm not looking it up) can't average more than 6ft between them against essentially 3 CBs. Mane's good in the air for his height, but he has to get free to win a header, and that wasn't happening at all today.

On the VAR stuff: I don't think it's a foul on Orig - he's felt the contact and gone down, which will never be a foul for me. That said, it is a foul Manchester United were getting every time. Atkinson should've given it, but I can definitely see why VAR didn't.

Then, I suspect Mane's hand (although accidental) did help him control the ball, so again I'm honestly fine with it. Atkinson was an absolute disgrace today, but I'm not sure what you want VAR to do. I'm still yet to witness a goal not being celebrated, by the way. Really feels like the anti-VAR lot have decided on this criticism in advance and are now just refusing to let it go

So that's not 'scared to celebrate a goal' then.

Agreed. It'll take nothing to convince them. Minds are already made up.

It's been like for a couple of seasons now with United, we go 1-0 up then you sit there as supporters with the squeaky bum syndrome attack because you know we either can't hang on to the lead, score two more and make the game comfortable or we end up losing in time added on.

I read that is was Young's fault that he never kept tags on Lallana's late goal because he thought he was offside, shows you what a wanker of a captain young is and why is Ole still giving him the captains armband I don't know, Young should fuck off to Italy and join Chris Smalling.

Young and Rojo both at fault - I’d argue Rojo’s error was worse

It was all Rojo.

For some reason he walks across Maguire in his own six yard box as the cross comes in, gets nowhere near the cross and leaves Lallana back post unmarked.

Young's a knobhead but that goal isn't his fault. Rojo was also the one who claimed for offside @CaaC (John)

It really pisses me off when players do that as well - more focussed on getting hands up claiming for offside when their back is to the player they're claiming about, as opposed to actually marking him or being close to him. How are you meant to see if a player is offside if you've got your back to him xD

It was a foul mate. They got several of the same fouls all game. Liverpool got pretty much none of them

Rojo's a knobhead then too with Young xD

Tbh, I know the title this year will be a battle between City and Pool but as our son said today after the match, him being a Liverpool nutter "Pops, people and the media keep forgetting about Leicester, they are still in with a chance, no one thought they would win it in 2015/16 but they did and wouldn't it be ironic if they did win it with Rogers in charge  as he was manager at Liverpool and got pipped at the post then given the boot", that had me thinking you know.

That would be fucking incredible but this Liverpool side is probably the best I've seen in my generation. This season is theirs.
