Life in prison for kids stealing sweets. It'll stop them doing it really quick.

No. Put them in prison for one week instead of one hour because the kids dont mind staying in prison for one hour for the sake of stolen sweets. But they are scared to be in prison for one week so they wont steal anymore.

FA to approve retrospective action for diving.

still needs approval from Premier League, EFL and PFA. Length to be decided.

Players who dive in English football could face bans from next season.

The Football Association will vote on retrospective action at its annual general meeting on Thursday and is expected to approve the proposal.

The governing body would need the backing of the Premier League, the English Football League and the Professional Footballers' Association to introduce the rule change.

But it is understood they are broadly supportive and already in agreement.

Under the proposed new rules, a panel would review footage from the weekend each Monday looking for cases of simulation. Any player unanimously found guilty of diving would be given a suspension.

Speaking in December, Burnley manager Sean Dyche said he thought diving would be eradicated from football "in six months" if retrospective bans were introduced.

Such bans have been in place in Scottish football since 2011.

A six game ban would be insanity. One game, two at the absolute max. Glad to see it come into effect though.

Yeah that would be over kill. You don't get that for leg breaking tackles ffs

It's such a grey area, I don't see it being very easy to implement this. Are they only gonna be given when there's absolutely no contact?

By the sounds of it there will be a panel of judges and the decision has to be unanimous, so yeah, I'd imagine when it's obvious there is absolutely no contact. Otherwise it's always debatable.

Sounds like there will also be bans handed out for simulation of injury. For instance a few weeks ago when Sanchez went down holding his face like he'd been punched by Tyson but then cameras shown that the actual contact was on his shoulder. If he does that again next season he'll be banned.

Allardyce says it's 'utter rubbish' and suggests sinbins instead to prevent people being punished when they were alleged to dive but didn't.

I don't think anyone will have issues so long as they just punish the most egregious, indisputable cases.

Since there is normally an element of subjectivity I wouldn't mind the majority of dives going unpunished, but if just a few face action then it will hopefully still have some deterrent effect and make the game a bit better in England.
